Obituary: Ogdensburg Advance (NY), Sunday, 19 November 2000: Massena - A Mass of Christian Burial for Lester D. LaShomb, 87, of 34 Churchill Avenue, Massena, who was a resident at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, since June of 2000 will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massena. Calling hours will be held Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena. Mr. LaShomb died Saturday (Nov. 18, 2000) at the Massena Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons: Lester D. Jr. of Newington, Conn., and Richard K. of Oneida; one daughter, Barbara Helmase of Atlanta, Ga.; four step-daughters: Sheila and Billy Ayotte of Massena, Linda and Richard O'Brien of Ind., Barbara and Douglas Caruso of Oswego, and Mary and Gary McCaffrey of Coconut Creek, Fla.; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances M. Henderson; a daughter, Phyllis LaPoint on Dec. 17, 1980; a grandson, Mark Helmase in 1995; one sister, Dorothy Dutt; and a brother, Howard. Mr. LaShomb was born on Aug. 11, 1913 in Brasher, the son of William and Maude (McDonald) LaShomb. He attended schools in Massena. He married Frances M. Henderson on Feb. 16, 1935 at St. Mary's Church. She died on Oct. 14, 1986. He then married Ruth Denis on June 23,1990 at the St. Lawrence Church in Louisville by Monsignor Floyd Brown. He was the head roller in the blooming mill at Alcoa for 38 years before retiring in 1978. He was the owner of LaShomb's Window Cleaning for many years. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Assembly #710 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus serving as past faithful navigator, a member of the 25 year club at Alcoa, a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1141, a life member of the Moose Lodge #1110, and a past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was also a past president of the Massena Senior Citizens, and member of the Legion of the Moose. He enjoyed bowling and being a member of the Blooming Mill Bowling League. LaShomb will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church with Msgr.
Floyd Brown officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling
hours were today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home. Mrs.
LaShomb died Tuesday (Oct. 14, 1986) at 3:50 a.m. in Massena Memorial Hospital,
where she had been a patient since Oct. 10. Surviving is her husband,
Lester LaShomb; two sons, Lester D. Jr. of Newington, Conn. and
Richard K. of Onieda, N.Y.; daughter, Mrs. Barbara Helnase of
Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters,
Mrs. Ora Freeman of Woodstock, Conn., Mrs. Donald (Mary) Myers of
Massena, Mrs. Howard (Pauline) Tyo of Crystal River, Fla., Mrs. Roger
(Elizabeth) Trombley of Constable, N.Y.; brother, Earl Henderson of
Massena; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Jan. 16, 1915 in
Theresa, N.Y., daughter of Theodore and Cora Dupree Henderson. She
married Lester LaShomb on Feb. 13, 1934 at the St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Massena with Rev. Collins officiating. Mrs. LaShomb was a charter
member of the Knights of Columbus and a Communicant of the Sacred Heart Catholic
Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Massena Rescue Squad.

Watertown Daily Times (NY) - Funeral services for Ruth LaComb, 89,
formerly of 18 Ober St. will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial
Home in Massena with the Rev. Michael Gaffney presiding. Friends may be
received on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at the
Phillips Memorial Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Ruth
passed away on December 28, 2009 at the St. Regis Nursing Home, surrounded by
her family. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Sheila and husband
William Ayotte of Massena, Linda Holdeman of Indianapolis, IN,
Barbara and husband Douglas Caruso of Oswego, and Mary and husband Gary
McCaffrey of Coconut Creek, FL; six grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren; step-grandchild, and two step-great-grandchildren; many
nieces and nephews; brothers George Jr., Alfred and Ronald Denis all of
Tupper Lake; and sisters Eleanor Johns of Depew, Nancy and husband
William Schilett and Patricia and husband Richard Eggsware of
Piercefield, NY. Ruth was born April 14, 1920 in Tupper Lake the daughter of George and
Laurenda (Lalonde) Denis. She married Clyde LaComb on August
30, 1941. He predeceased her in 1968. She married Lester LaShomb
on June 23, 1990 at the St. Lawrence Church in Louisville, he died in November
2000. She was employed at one time as a head waitress at Wakescha Inn in
Moody. She later was a sales clerk at Newberry's Department Store in
Tupper Lake. Prior to her marriage to Mr. LaComb she was employed at the
Mica Plant. At one time she owned a wedding invitation services in her
home. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, needle art, and spending time with her
family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Helmase, (son) Mark E. Helmase, parents, Lester and Frances (Henderson) LaShomb, and (sister) Phyllis LaPointe. he is survived by children: (son) Mike and Carol Helmase, (son) Pat and Jan Helmase, (daughter) Catherine and James Grant, and by her brothers Lester and (Peggie) LaShombe, Jr., and Richard and (Roe) LaShomb; grandchildren: Tiffany, Christopher, Jenny, Mary, Daniel, and Elizabeth; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 3 at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, Georgia at 3:30 pm. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

Lester David Lashombe: Hartford Courant (Hartford, CT), Wednesday, 16 December 2020: Lester D. LaShombe, Jr., of Newington passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 10, 2020 with his wife Peggy at his side. He was born on October 1, 1937 to Lester LaShombe, Sr. and Frances (Henderson) LaShombe in Massena, NY. He married Peggy (Welch) on May 29, 1968 and they were together for 52 years. He served in the Air Force in the Pacific region. After completing his commitment to the Air Force, he got his Bachelor's Degree from UCONN and went on to get his Master's Degree at UNH. He worked in the finance field for many years until his retirement. Les and Peggy settled in Newington and spent some time at her family home in Biddeford Maine. Les was active in the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He was also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. After his retirement he worked in the Biddeford and Newington School districts as a substitute teacher. Lester is survived by his wife Peggy, sister-in-law RoseMarie and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Richard and his sisters Barbara and Phyllis. Per Lester's request there will be no services and the burial will be private. Special thanks to the Hospice Care team from VNA Health Resources in Southington CT. Phyllis Ann Lashomb: Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 23 December 1980 - Funeral services for Phyllis A. LaPointe, 41, of 29 Roosevelt Avenue were held Saturday morning at 10 at St. Mary's Church in Massena. Mrs. LaPointe died Wednesday morning, December 17, 1980 at Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since December 15. She is survived by her husband, Guy; parents, Lester and Frances LaShomb of Massena; three sons, Gregory, Massena, Scott, Andrew, both at home; one sister, Mrs. John (Barbara) Helmaise of Tucker, GA; two brothers, Lester (Junior) LaShomb, Hartford, CT, Richard LaShomb, Syracuse; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. LaPointe was born in Massena September 17, 1939 the daughter of Lester and Frances Henderson LaShomb. She attended local schools and graduated from Massena High School in 1957. On November 30, 1957 she married Guy LaPointe at the Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Mrs. LaPointe worked as a clerk in Newberry's and as a switchboard operator at Massena Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Home Bureau and a lay minister at the Sacred Heart Church in Massena.

North Syracuse - Richard K. LaShomb, 60, passed away Thursday at home
with family at his side. He was a native of Massena, N.Y. He
dedicated 36 years of his life to the Department of Defense. He was a
member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Patriot Guard Riders.
Richard is predeceased by two sisters, Phyllis and Barbara. He is
survived by his wife of 32 years, Rose Marie (Virag); children,
Lisandra (Anthony) D'Agostino, Jason and Jonathan; grandson, Cologero;
brother, Lester LaShomb, and several nieces and nephews. Services
will be Monday, 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero, N.Y. Calling
hours will be Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St.,
N. Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ALS Assn. or
Wounded Warrior Project.
