Joseph Alfred Peters:  Portland Press Herald (Portland, ME), Tuesday, 24 July 1962:  Limington - Joseph A. Peters, 76, died Sunday in a Portland hospital after a long illness.  He lived in Limington for the past 50 years and was a retired farmer.  Born April 2, 1886, in Rogersville, N.B., he was the son of Robert and Useriline Hebert Peters.  He attended schools in New Brunswick and came to the United States at the age of 14.  He was a member of the Limington Grange and attended the local Congregational Church.  Besides his widow, Mrs. Edith Strout Peters, he is survived by one son, Merrill S. Peters, Portland; one daughter, Mrs. Archie Paschal, Mattapan, Mass.; four sisters; Mrs. Phoebe Sargent and Mrs. Mary Babb, Bridgton; Mrs. Christine Pouline, Saco, and Mrs. Adeline Odette, Connecticut; three brothers, Maxime Peters, Cornish, and Edmund and Robert Peters, Limington; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Congregational church at Limington.  Interment will be in the village cemetery.

Babb, 90 years of age, of Brownfield, widow of Fulton Babb.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Neal and York Funeral Home, Kezar Falls.  Interment in the Gilman Cemetery, Denmark.  There will be no visitation.

Joseph Edmund Pitre:  Portland Press Herald (Portland, ME), Wednesday, 20 February 1963:  Limington - Funeral services for Edmund R. Peters, 72, who died Tuesday in a fire that destroyed his camp home, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at a Cornish funeral home.  The Rev. Melvin Coatney will officiate.  Mr. Peters was born at Rogersville, N.B., June 4, 1890, son of Robert and Useline Hebert Peters.  He come to this country with his parents when he was 8.  He lived here many years.  Mr. Peters was an Army veteran of World War I.  Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Mary Babb of Denmark, Mrs. Phoebe Sargent of Bridgton and Mrs. Christine Poulin of Saco; and two brothers, Maxime of Limerick and Michael of Limington.  Burial will be in Elm Hill Cemetery at South Limington in the spring.

 

Marie Philomene 'Phebe' Pitre:  Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME), Wednesday, 4 February 1976:  Phoebe M. Sargent, 81, of Bridgton, mother of an Auburn resident, died Monday at a Greene nursing home.  Born on Prince Edward Island, Aug. 6, 1894, the daughter of Robert and Lucy Peters, she attended schools of Westbrook.  For several years, Mrs. Sargent was a cashier at the Brookside Theater in Bridgton.  She resided there for many years, moving from Westbrook.  Her husband, George Sargent Sr., died in 1959.  Mrs. Sargent is survived by three sons, Harvey of Florida, Forrest of Auburn and George Jr. of Bridgton; four daughters, Mrs. June Gaines of Steep Falls, Mrs. Ruth Tomas of Saco, Mrs. Edna Mackie of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Helene Leavitt of Monmouth; a sister, Mary Babb of Brownfield; a brother, Maxine Peters of Limington; 24 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild.

Marie Christine Pitre:  Biddeford-Saco Journal (Biddeford, ME), Friday, 1 September 1967:  Long Island, N.Y. - Mrs. Marie Poulin, 72, of Medford Station here, a resident for the past five years, died in a hospital here Wednesday after a long illness.  She was a former resident of the Jenkins Road, Saco, Maine.  She was born in Canada, April 18, 1895, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peters.  Mrs. Poulin went to Maine as a child and attended schools in the Brownfield-Limington area.  She went to Saco about 1940.  Surviving are one son, Kenneth I., Saco; two daughters, Mrs. May Christiansen of Medford Station, with whom Mrs. Poulin made her home and Mrs. Bernice Bush, Saco; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Babb and Mrs. Bebe Sargent, Brownfield and Bridgton, Maine, respectively; two brothers, Maxin Peters of Maine and Florida and Michael Peters, Limington; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow from the Dennett and Craig Funeral Home, Saco, Maine.  Interment will be in Steep Falls (Maine) Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.

'Maxime' Joseph B. Peters:  Journal Tribune (Biddeford, ME), Monday, 19 February 1979:  Cornish - Maxime Joseph Peters, 79, of Route 5, died Sunday at his home following a long illness.  He was born in Westbrook on May 29, 1899, the son of Robert and Lucy Hebert Peters.  He was a retired mill worker, and a communicant of St. Matthew Church, Limerick.  He and his wife Nellie Carroll Peters observed their 55th wedding anniversary on Feb. 13th.  He is survived by his wife of Cornish; a son, Robert M. Peters of Cornish; a grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.  A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m., at St. Matthew Church.  Interment will be in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford.  Calling hours will be held today, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Dockendorff Funeral Home, Limerick.

Edna Peters:  Biddeford-Saco Journal (Biddeford, ME), Monday, 25 November 1918:  The funeral of Miss Edna M. Peters was held at 8:30 o'clock this morning from Most Holy Trinity church, Saco.  Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. T. J. Mahoney.  Interment was in St. Josephs Cemetery.  Miss Peters died Saturday night after a long illness.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peters of Storer street, Saco.  She was widely known in the two cities and had endeared herself to a large circle of friends.
