Obituary:  Portland Press Herald (Portland, ME), Tuesday, 24 July 1962:  Peters - In Portland, July 22, Joseph A. Peters, aged 76, husband of Edith Peters of Limington.  Funeral services Wednesday at 2 o'clock at Limington Congregational Church.  Interment in Limington Village Cemetery.  Visiting hours Tuesday 2-5 and 7-9 at the Stanley Funeral Home, Kezar Falls.

- Portland Press Herald (Portland, ME), Tuesday, 24 July 1962:  Limington - Joseph A. Peters, 76, died Sunday in a Portland hospital after a long illness.  He lived in Limington for the past 50 years and was a retired farmer.  Born April 2, 1886, in Rogersville, N.B., he was the son of Robert and Useriline Hebert Peters.  He attended schools in New Brunswick and came to the United States at the age of 14.  He was a member of the Limington Grange and attended the local Congregational Church.  Besides his widow, Mrs. Edith Strout Peters, he is survived by one son, Merrill S. Peters, Portland; one daughter, Mrs. Archie Paschal, Mattapan, Mass.; four sisters; Mrs. Phoebe Sargent and Mrs. Mary Babb, Bridgton; Mrs. Christine Pouline, Saco, and Mrs. Adeline Odette, Connecticut; three brothers, Maxime Peters, Cornish, and Edmund and Robert Peters, Limington; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Congregational church at Limington.  Interment will be in the village cemetery.

Peters, age 88, of Limington.  Funeral services Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church, Limington.  Interment in Limington Village Cemetery in the spring.  Visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Stanley Funeral Home, Kezar Falls.

- Portland Press Herald (Portland, ME), Friday, 10 March 1967:  (photo) Limington - Mrs. Edith Strout Peters, 88, widow of Joseph A. Peters, a former town clerk here, died Wednesday in a Portland hospital where she had been a patient since Jan. 29.  Mrs. Peters was born here June 12, 1878, the daughter of Augustus and Hannah Pillsbury Strout.  A lifelong resident here, she graduated from Limington Academy, and attended Emerson College of Elocution in Boston.  Mrs. Peters taught at Standish and Limerick for about 10 years.  She was elected town clerk in 1928, and retired from that post in 1962 after 34 years of service.  Mrs. Peters was a direct decendant of Francis Small, who purchased the land that comprises this town, from the Indians.  She was the fifth generation of Strouts to live on the homestead.  Her great-grandfather, Solomon Strout, served many years as selectman and town meeting moderator here.  Mrs. Peters was a charter member of Limington Grange and served this organization in several official positions.  She was a past worthy matron of Adnah Chapter, OES; and a member of the local Congregational Church.  Surviving are a son, Merrill S. of Limington and Bath; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara P. Paschal; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two nieces.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Congregational Church here, with Mr. Carl Mores, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in the Limington Cemetery in the spring.

Barbara Pillsbury Peters:  Journal Tribune (Biddeford, ME), Thursday, 28 May 1987:  Portland - Barbara Pillsbury Paschal, 72, formerly of Standish, died Tuesday at Barron Center after a long illness.  She was born in Limington, May 16, 1915, daughter of Joseph A. and Edith M. Strout Peters, and attended schools there, graduating in 1933 from Limington Academy.  Mrs. Paschal lived in Boston for many years, returned to Standish in 1963 and came here several years ago.  Her husband, Archie Lee Paschal, died in 1973.  She is survived by a son, Alfred S. Paschal of Gaitherburg, Md.; a daughter, Janice M. Paschal of Augusta; a brother, Merrill S. Peters of Buxton; and five grandchildren.  Graveside services are planned Friday at 2 p.m. in Limington Village Cemetery, Limington.  The Hay and Peabody Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.  There are no calling hours.

Merrill Strout Peters:  Journal Tribune (Biddeford, ME), Friday, 1 February 1991:  West Buxton - Merrill Peters, 74, of Route 22, died Thursday at the Brighton Medical Center in Portland.  He was born April 24, 1916, in Limington, a son of Joseph and Edith Strout Peters, and attended local schools.  He was a Navy veteran of World War II.  Peters was an insurance salesman for more than 15 years, including 10 years with American Family Life.  He was a member of the Westbrook American Legion.  He is survived by his wife, Mattie Mabel Peters of West Buxton; three sons, Raymond Marshall of North Windham, Merle Marshall of Buxton and Larry Riccatell of Virginia; five daughters, Edith Newcomb and Beverly Harmon, both of Steep Falls, Marie Aube of Standish, Betty Wakefield of Hollis and Beverly Nye of Buxton; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, Bar Mills, with the Rev. Danforth Carr, pastor of the Tory Meeting House, officiating.  Spring burial will be in Limington Cemetery.  Calling hours are 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
