Obituary:  Detroit Free Press (Detroit, MI), Wednesday, 17 April 1907:  Lived in City 71 years - Richard Peters, son of old French settlers, is dead - Richard Peters, aged 71 years, died at the family residence, 48 Wilkins street, yesterday after a long illness.  The deceased was a son of Francis and Veronica Peters, old French settlers, and was born in Detroit in 1836, when the city was a small village and Indians camped in the suburbs.  He spent all his life here and was for years in the building business in the firm of Peters & Peters, plasterers and masons.  Some of the oldest buildings in the city are monuments of his work.  He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Charles Gaunt, Mrs. J.J. Joy, Mrs. W. F. Jackman, Mrs. William Schroeder, Richard, John and Charles Peters, all residents of Detroit.

Richard Peters:  Detroit Free Press (Detroit, MI), Monday, 22 May 1933:  Funeral will be Tuesday for veteran mail carrier - Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church for Richard P. Peters, veteran mail carrier who died Saturday night at his home, 11987 Ohio Ave.  Mr. Peters was 70 years old and was a descendant of French pioneers who arrived in Detroit five years after the City was founded.  He entered the United States Postal Service in 1887 and retired from active duty five years ago.  He leaves five sons, Edgar, Raymond, Richard A., Lester C., and James F. Peters, and one daughter, Eileen.

Jackman.  Born in Detroit 73 years ago, Mrs. Jackman died Thursday in her home at 1245 Burlingame.  She was the widow of Prof. Wilbur Fiske Jackman and is survived by her daughters, Agnes E., Margaret R. and Mrs. Walter I. Smith; her sister, Mrs. John Schroeder; her brother, Charles S. Peters; her stepdaughter, Mrs. Edward M. O'Hara, and her granddaughter, Julianne Smith.  Prayers at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the residence.  Services at 9 a.m. in Visitation Church.  Burial in Mt. Olivet.

John E. Peters:  Detroit Free Press (Detroit, MI), Sunday, 18 March 1934:  (photo) John E. Peters - Following services at the home at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday solemn requiem high mass will be sung at St. Benedict's Church at 9 for John E. Peters, 650 Brentwood Ave., widely known in automobile circles here.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Mr. Peters died at his home Friday at the age of 60 after an illness of a year.  He was born in Detroit and attended Detroit College, now the University of Detroit.  For the past 20 years he had been salesman and then sales-manager for the Federal Motor Truck Co.  Previously he was with the Thompson Auto Co.  During the Spanish-American War he served in Cuba.  He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the Rotary Club, the Elks, the Detroit Yacht Club and the United Spanish War Veterans.  Surviving are his wife, Ellen; a daughter, Margaret; two sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Jackman and Mrs. John Schroeder, and a brother, Charles.
