Obituary: Detroit Free Press (Detroit, MI), Monday, 22 May 1933: Funeral will be Tuesday for veteran mail carrier - Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church for Richard P. Peters, veteran mail carrier who died Saturday night at his home, 11987 Ohio Ave. Mr. Peters was 70 years old and was a descendant of French pioneers who arrived in Detroit five years after the City was founded. He entered the United States Postal Service in 1887 and retired from active duty five years ago. He leaves five sons, Edgar, Raymond, Richard A., Lester C., and James F. Peters, and one daughter, Eileen.

MISC: Detroit Free Press (Detroit, MI), Friday, 11 December 1903: Scarlet fever attacked the five children of Mr. and Mrs. Richard P. Peters, 894 Thirteenth street. Two of them have died and the others are still in a dangerous condition at Harper hospital. A few days ago, the 6-year-old daughter passed away and, on Wednesday, death claimed John, aged 3 years.

Burial in Mt. Olivet. Mrs. Peters was born in County Longford, Ireland, 74 years ago and had lived in Detroit 40 years. She died Thursday in her home. She was the widow of Richard P. Peters and for 35 years had been financial secretary of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, Holy Trinity Court. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Todd; five sons, Edgar, Raymond, Richard, Lester C. and James Peters, and a sister, Mrs. J. Gfrocrer, of Watsonville, Calif.
