Pitre, aged thirty-nine years and seven days.  St. Landry Clarion (Opelousas, LA), Saturday, 20 October 1906:  Pitre - In Plaisance, on Monday, October 15th, 1906, Pierre D. Pitre, son of Damon Pitre, aged 39 years and 7 days.  Interment at Catholic Church on Wednesday morning, October 16, at 10:30 o'clock.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 20 August 1943:  Funeral services were held for Mrs. Laura S. Pitre at the home of her son, Edgar Pitre in Prairie Ronde at 9 a.m. today in the Prairie Ronde Catholic Church.  The interment was held in the Plaisance Catholic cemetery.  Survivors are Mrs. Willery Jones of Grand Prairie, daughter; Martin Pitre of Plaisance, Leon Pitre of Lewisburg, Fernand and Edgar Pitre of Grand Prairie, sons; Mr. Armand Sovet of Plaisance, brother and Mrs. Albert Dupre of Plaisance, sister.  Lafond & Son were in charge.

Obituaries for the children:

Fernand Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 14 March 1968:  Funeral services for Ferdinand Pitre, 76, retired farmer of Opelousas, will be held at 8 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Church cemetery in Prairie Ronde.  Pitre died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday at a Ville Platte Nursing Home.  A native of Prairie Ronde, he had been an invalid for many years.  His body is at Lafond and Son Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8:30 tonight.  Pitre is survived by his widow, the former Ida Dupre of Opelousas; five sons, Herbert, Murray, Wilfred and Wedney Pitre all of Opelousas and Sanwood Pitre of Eunice; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph Johnson of Opelousas; one brother, Edgar Pitre of Prairie Ronde; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

 

Leon Joseph Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Friday, 6 July 1945:  Leon Pitre, aged 52 years, 412 Sanders St., Pineville, La. died at the Veterans Hospital, Alexandria, July 1, 1945 at 3:30 p.m. following a two years illness.  Besides his wife, Mrs. Emily G. Pitre, Pineville, he is survived by three sons, Alvin L., stationed in England; Paul T. stationed in Germany; Leon Jr., Pineville; one daughter, Mary Lou also of Pineville; three brothers, Ferdinand, Martin and Edgar all of Opelousas; one sister, Rose Jones also of Opelousas; and two grandchildren.  Funeral services were held in the St. Landry Catholic church of Opelousas with interment in the Catholic Cemetery of Opelousas under the direction of Laboud & Son Funeral Home.  Pallbearers were Ferdinand, Martin and Edgar Pitre and Milburn Ezra and Dallas Guillory.

Martin Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 8 June 1960:  Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. today for Martin Pitre, 64, Plaisance farmer, who died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday in a Lafayette hospital.  He had been ill six weeks.  Pitre was a native and lifelong resident of Plaisance.  He was a veteran of World War I.  His body is at Lafond and Son Funeral Home where the rosary was recited Tuesday night.  Services will be held at the Plaisance Catholic Church with Father Jules Lonoie officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Pitre is survived by his wife, the former Lucille Dupre of Plaisance; one son, Dave Fontenot of Opelousas; two brothers, Edgar and Ferdinand Pitre, both of Opelousas; and seven grandchildren.

Edgar Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 4 January 1978:  Prairie Ronde - Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Edgar Pitre, 78, of Prairie Ronde, who died today at 2:40 a.m. following a long illness.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery, directed by Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home located on the Old Sunset Highway.  Survivors include his wife, the former Anna Dupre of Prairie Ronde; two sons, Leroy Pitre of Prairie Ronde and Kermit Pitre of Opelousas; one daughter, Mrs. Ella Mae Fontenot of Opelousas and five grandchildren.  A rosary will begin tonight at 8 p.m.
