Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 8 June 1960:  Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. today for Martin Pitre, 64, Plaisance farmer, who died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday in a Lafayette hospital.  He had been ill six weeks.  Pitre was a native and lifelong resident of Plaisance.  He was a veteran of World War I.  His body is at Lafond and Son Funeral Home where the rosary was recited Tuesday night.  Services will be held at the Plaisance Catholic Church with Father Jules Lonoie officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Pitre is survived by his wife, the former Lucille Dupre of Plaisance; one son, Dave Fontenot of Opelousas; two brothers, Edgar and Ferdinand Pitre, both of Opelousas; and seven grandchildren.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 31 December 1968:  Plaisance - Final rites for Mrs. Martin Pitre, 72, of Plaisance, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Catholic Chapel in Plaisance.  Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Lafond and Son Funeral Home.  Mrs. Pitre, the former Lucille Dupre, died at 3:35 a.m. Tuesday at the Ville Platte Medical Center.  She had resided in Ville Platte for the past year.  Survivors are one son, Dave Fontenot of Opelousas; three brothers, Hilary Dupre of Washington and Elridge and Willis Dupre, both of Ville Platte; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
