Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 4 January 1978:  Prairie Ronde - Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Edgar Pitre, 78, of Prairie Ronde, who died today at 2:40 a.m. following a long illness.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery, directed by Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home located on the Old Sunset Highway.  Survivors include his wife, the former Anna Dupre of Prairie Ronde; two sons, Leroy Pitre of Prairie Ronde and Kermit Pitre of Opelousas; one daughter, Mrs. Ella Mae Fontenot of Opelousas and five grandchildren.  A rosary will begin tonight at 8 p.m.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 14 February 1989:  Prairie Ronde - Funeral services for Mrs. Anna D. Pitre, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial in the church cemetery.  Mrs. Pitre, a resident of Opelousas, died at 5:30 a.m. today in Opelousas General Hospital.  Survivors include two sons, Kermit Pitre of Opelousas and Leroy Pitre of Prairie Ronde; a daughter, Mrs. Ella Mae Fontenot of Opelousas; a sister, Mrs. Lindzy Pitre of Prairie Ronde; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.  Visiting hours are from 2-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday.  Lafond-Ardoin Guardian Chapel on Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Leroy Pierre Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 16 October 1997:  Funeral services for Mr. Leroy Pierre Pitre, 74, will be held (time pending) Friday in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Prairie Ronde.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Prairie Ronde, died at 12:06 a.m. today (Thursday, October 16, 1997) in Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.  Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Ella Mae Thibodeaux Pitre of Prairie Ronde; four stepsons, Delton Faul of Toledo Bend, Elroy Faul of Thibodaux, Merlin Lavergne of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and Bobby Richard of Lafayette; a daughter, Becky Callahan of Baton Rouge; a brother, Kermit Pitre of Opelousas; a sister, Ella Mae Fontenot of Opelousas; three grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Visiting hours will be observed from 2 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Friday until time of services.  Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Ella Mae Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 9 January 2009:  (photo) Prairie Ronde - A Mass of Christian Burial for Ella Mae P. Fontenot, 82, will be held Friday, January 9, 2009, at 11 a.m., in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde, followed by interment in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Daniel Picard will conduct the services.  Mrs. Fontenot, a native of Prairie Ronde, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at 12:20 p.m., at Opelousas General Health Systems.  Mrs. Fontenot enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.  Mrs. Fontenot retired from the Opelousas Daily World after 28 years as a paper carrier.  She was also employed at Ray's Grocery for many years.  She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.  She is survived by her son, James Ricky Fontenot and his wife, Cheryl, of Opelousas, La.; her daughter, Laura Richard and her husband, Delbert, of Opelousas, La. and her brother, Kermit Pitre.  She is survived by six grandchildren, Shaun Fontenot, Kevin Richard, Susan Richard, Ashley Richard, Cody Fontenot and Desiree Fontenot.  She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Tyler Fontenot, Ryan Fontenot, Aidan Fontenot and Shaun Fontenot, Jr.  Mrs. Fontenot was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Fontenot; her parents, Edgar and Anna Dupre Pitre; her son, Ronald Fontenot and her brother, Leroy Pitre.  Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will re-open Friday from 8 a.m. until time of services.  A rosary service will be recited Thursday night.  Pallbearers will be: Cody Fontenot, Shaun Fontenot, Kevin Richard, Kyle Thibodeaux, Dustin Robin and Jimmy Richard.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler and Ryan Fontenot.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Kermit J. Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 8 March 2013]:  Opelousas - Funeral services for Kermit J. Pitre will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel followed by interment in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.  Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct the service.  Mr. Pitre, age 80, a resident of Opelousas, LA died on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at his residence.  Kermit was the owner of Southside Storage and co-owner of Daigle Welding Supply with his special friend, Tommy Oge.  He was a past member of the Opelousas Elks Lodge #1048.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing at Toledo Bend Lake.  Kermit was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.  Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dora Belle Pitre, of Opelousas, LA; his daughter, Sheila Hester of Opelousas, LA; three grandchildren, Katie Pitre Johson and husband, Ben; Charles Randy Pitre, II; Keith Daniel Hester and wife, Lyndsy and three great-grandchildren, Tyler James Knott, Blakelyn Celeste Johnson and Stetson Daniel Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Anna Dupre Pitre; his son, Randy Pitre; his brother, Leroy Pitre and his sister, Ella Mae Fontenot.  Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of service.  A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with Reverend Austin Leger.  Pallbearers will be Keith Hester, Ben Johnson, John Saucier, Chad Robin, Brad Guidry and Kenneth Ardoin.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Knott and Stetson Johnson.   Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas has been entrusted with the funeral.
