Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 14 December 1947: Illness is Fatal to Mrs. Pitre, Beloved Matron - Mrs. Octave Pitre, 75, beloved Opelousas housewife, died last night in a Ville Platte hospital after an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Pitre had been a lifelong resident of Opelousas. She was before her marriage, Miss Frances Boudreaux. Her husband preceded her in death by many years. She had been living for the past several years with a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Ryder of Opelousas. Funeral services will be conducted by the Catholic faith, but no arrangements had been made early last night. Besides Mrs. Ryder, the deceased leaves two other daughters, Mrs. George Brinkman and Mrs. Walter Maher, both of Church Point, and three sons, Octave and Benjamin Pitre, both of Opelousas, and Lee Pitre of Lake Charles.

Marie Belle Pitre: The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Friday, 10 October 1951: Eunice - Funeral services were to be this morning at the First Methodist Church in Eunice for Mrs. George Brinkman, who died at the Eunice hospital at 3:15 a.m. yesterday. Born in Prairie Ronde, Mrs. Brinkman was the former Mary-Bell Pitre, and was a life-long resident of Pitreville. She was 56 years of age. Rev. Ned Stout, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate at the service. Survivors include her husband; one son, Bobley, also of Pitreville; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Hornsby of Opelousas, and Mrs. L. O. Woolheiser of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Benny Pitre and Octave Pitre of Opelousas and Lee Pitre of Lafayette; and two sisters, Mrs. Walter Maher of Church Point and Mrs. J. A. Rider of Opelousas. Also surviving are four grandchildren.

Burial will be at the St. Bridges' cemetery. Mr. Pitre died at 11 p.m. Friday at Prompt Succor Nursing Home. Mr. Pitre was a retired merchant. Mr. Pitre was a member of the Knights of Columbus' Council of Lawtell, and the St. Landry Parish Farm Bureau. Survivors include two sons, James Pitre and Ray Pitre, both of Opelousas; a daughter, Wilma T. Venable, Opelousas; a brother, Octaven Pitre, Opelousas; a sister, Marite Maher, Church Point; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Ardoin's Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Maher, a resident of Church Point, died at 7 p.m. Sunday in Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Survivors include a son, Andrew Vernon Fontenot of Opelousas; two daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Gertrude) Marks of Opelousas and Mrs. Perry (Wilda) Smith Jr. of Church Point; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. The funeral home will close at 10 p.m. today and reopen at 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today. Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point is in charge of arrangements.

Lee Joseph Pitre: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 20 February 1962: Lafayette - Funeral services were to be held at 4 p.m. today at the First Methodist Church of Lafayette for Lee J. Pitre Sr., 60, a native of the Prairie Ronde section near Opelousas. Pitre died Monday at M. B. Anderson Hospital at Houston, Tex., after a brief illness. A resident of Lafayette for 12 years, Pitre was employed by Gulf States Utilities Co. He had been associated with the company for 32 years. Survivors are his wife, the former Mary M. Childs of Lafayette; one daughter, Mrs. Henry Duke Jr. of Lafayette; one son, Lee J. Pitre Jr. of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Maher of Church Point and Mrs. J. A. Ryder of Opelousas; two brothers, Octave Pitre Jr. and Bennie Pitre, both of Opelousas. Interment will take place in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on the Carencro Highway. The Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette has charge of the arrangements.
Octave Pitre: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 18 June 1989: Opelousas - Funeral services for Octave 'Tat' Pitre will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Queen of Angels at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow at St. Bridget's Cemetery in Lawtell. He was 83-years-old and died at 11:43 a.m. Saturday at Senior Village Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Sunday until 10 p.m. Sunday and will reopen at 7 a.m. until the time of the service. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday. He is survived by one sister, Marite Maher of Church Point and a host of nieces and nephews. All arrangements are being held by Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Sunset Road.

Mrs. Ryder died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at her residence in Opelousas. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Jeanette) Landreneaux and Mrs. Harold (Juanita) Fontenot, both of Opelousas; two brothers, Bennie and Octave Pitre, both of Opelousas; a sister, Mrs. Marite Maher of Church Point; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the old Sunset Highway in Opelousas is directing.
