Obituary:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Sunday, 13 January 1918:  Pitre - On Saturday, January 12, 1918, at 4:55 o'clock p.m., Gilles Pitre, beloved husband of Ernestine Hebert, aged 45 years, a native of Thibodaux, La., and a resident of this city for the past four years.  The relatives, friends and acquaintances of the family, also officers and members of Farmers' Camp No. 518, W. O. W., and Holy Name Society of St. John's Church, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, which will take place from his late residence, No. 1187 Baronne street, this (Sunday) evening, January 13, 1918, at 8 o'clock.

- Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Tuesday, 15 Nov 1921:  Pitre - On Sunday, November 13, 1921, at 8 o'clock p.m., Ernestine Hebert, widow of Gilles Pitre, aged 46 years, a native of Lafourche parish, La., and a resident of this city for the past eight years.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral, which will take place from her late residence, 1727 Clio street, on Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 1921, at 3 o'clock.  Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

Gilles Elmer Benoit Pitre:  Star News (Pasadena, CA), 28 April 1966:  Gillis E. Pitre of 1750 Grevella, So. Pasadena passed away suddenly at a local hospital.  A native of Thibodeaux, Louisiana and lived in this area 26 years.  Surviving are his wife, Ruby Greig Pitre, daughter Mrs. Gloria Smith and grandson, Greig Smith of Whittier; sisters, Mrs. Harry Clew of Whittier, Mrs. Leyland Montgomerey of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; brothers Milfred Pitre of Los Angeles, Sidney Pitre of New Orleans, La., several nieces and nephews.  Recitation of the Rosary 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28 at Pierce Bros., Fred A. Turner, 1000 Fremont Ave., So. Pasadena.  Requiem Mass 9 a.m. Friday at Holy Family R.C. Church 1501 Fremont Ave., So. Pasadena.
