Obituary:  Star News (Pasadena, CA), 28 April 1966:  Gillis E. Pitre of 1750 Grevella, So. Pasadena passed away suddenly at a local hospital.  A native of Thibodeaux, Louisiana and lived in this area 26 years.  Surviving are his wife, Ruby Greig Pitre, daughter Mrs. Gloria Smith and grandson, Greig Smith of Whittier; sisters, Mrs. Harry Clew of Whittier, Mrs. Leyland Montgomerey of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; brothers Milfred Pitre of Los Angeles, Sidney Pitre of New Orleans, La., several nieces and nephews.  Recitation of the Rosary 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28 at Pierce Bros., Fred A. Turner, 1000 Fremont Ave., So. Pasadena.  Requiem Mass 9 a.m. Friday at Holy Family R.C. Church 1501 Fremont Ave., So. Pasadena.
