Alexis Richard Pitre: Lafourche Daily Comet (Thibodaux, LA), Thursday, 26 February 1931: A venerable citizen of Lafourche parish closed his eyes for all eternity last Monday when Mr. Alexis Pitre, of Cut Off, passed away, his age being 93 years. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Galliano Catholic church, after which the body was laid to rest in the Cheramie cemetery. The deceased was a Confederate veteran, he having served valiantly in the war between the States. After the war he settled at Cut Off, where he remained during the greater portion of his long life. The deceased is survived by the following-named children: Mrs. John Guidry, Mrs. Ernest Lafont and Mrs. Oscar Gisclair, the sons, being: Pierre, Henry, Alexis, Jr., Alidore; David and Voltier Pitre. He also left to lament his death about 250 grand- and great-grandchildren.
