Misc.:  La sentinelle de Thibodaux (LA), Saturday, 23 August 1884:  Harang’s Aug. 17, 1884, S.T. Grisamore, Esq.- Editor Sentinel: - Yesterday was a gala day below the Cut Off, for some; and a most unhappy one for others.  A double wedding took place and a ball was given in honor of the event at Ernest Galliano’s residence.  During the evening a most unfortunate affair occurred: one William Pitre was wounded in the breast by a pistol bullet, and from all appearances his life is in jeopardy.  Dr. Harang visited the sick man this morning and if there is any way of saving the wounded man’s life it will be done, as the doctor, although a young man, is experienced.  It appears that one John Mobbey is the individual that did the shooting; whether justifiable or not is more than I can say, as the rumors are most conflicting.  William Pitre is well known here on the lower part of the bayou as a most peaceable man and is well liked.  Should the unfortunate man lose his life he will be deeply regretted by a great many, besides leaving a young wife with four children; let us hope for the best; I trust I may yet see him in as good health as ever. Yours, W.C. Lorraine
