Obituary: The Terrebonne Press (Houma, LA), Tuesday, 6 February 1962: Funeral services were held February 2, for Octave Joseph Pitre, 73, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery. Mr. Pitre died at his residence, 829 Pontiff St., at 3 a.m. February 1. The deceased is survived by two sons Otis and Jerry Pitre of Houma and by seven grandchildren. He was a retired City of Houma employee. First National Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

She was the daughter of the late Julian Babin and the late Alfrida Ross Babin. She was the mother of Jerry Pitre of Houma and the late Otis Pitre and Mrs. Waldina Lateano of Dallas, Tex. She was the sister of Ed Babin of Lake Charles and Mrs. Harold Winningcoff and Mrs. George Fahman, both of New Orleans. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation services will be held Tuesday, July 8 from 5 to 10 p.m., and Wednesday, July 9 from 8 a.m. until the funeral. First National Funeral Home, Inc. of Houma is in charge.
