Obituary:  Thibodaux Daily Comet (LA), 19 February 2001:  Dolores LeCompte Pitre; age 80, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, who died at 12:48 a.m. Feb. 18, 2001.  Mass of burial celebrated Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma; visitation today at Chauvin Funeral Home and until funeral time at the church; burial at the church cemetery.  Mother of Errol J. Pitre of Cut Off and Gaynell P. Janise of Houma; and sister of Della Springman of New Orleans; also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband, Otis Andrew Pitre; parents, Aubin and Johanna Cuneo LeCompte; son, Daniel J. Pitre; brother, Calvin LeCompte; and sisters, Stella L. Adoue, Lillian Castille, Edmay LeBlanc, Audis and Gertie LeCompte; homemaker; Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma.

 

Obituaries for the children:

Daniel John Pitre:  San Antonio Express (San Antonio, TX), Thursday, 3 September 1970:  Alvin - Monsanto Co. officials Wednesday were still trying to determine the cause of an explosion which took the life of Daniel John Pitre, 24.  The Tuesday blast occurred when Pitre, a Halliburton Co. employee, was cleaning a tank at the Monsanto plant.  He was dead on arrival at Alvin Memorial Hospital.

 

Gaynell Ann Pitre:  Houma Today (Houma, LA), 6 June 2017:  Gaynell Ann Pitre Janise, 60, died June 4, 2017, at 2:25 p.m.  She was a native and a resident of Houma.  A Memorial will be held on Friday, June 9, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Live Oak Baptist Church, Montegut (Pointe-Aux-Chenes), LA.  She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Eugene Milton Janise; son, Michael A. Janise; daughters, Bethany J. Verdin and husband, Richard Jr., and Amy J. Comeaux and husband, Darryl; brother, Errol Pitre; grandchildren, Trinity and Kenzi Comeaux, and Wyatt Verdin.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis Andrew and Delores Cecile LeCompte Pitre; and brother, Daniel Pitre.  She loved cooking, sewing, and gardening.  She also enjoyed reading books about traveling and history.  Gaynell supported humanitarian and animal rights, and was very passionate about helping others before herself, especially caring for her grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Chauvin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
