Tomb:  The tomb of Livaudais Pitre was located in a pasture on Highway 308 between 145th and 146th streets (Lefort Cem., Leeville).  It was moved during the early 1940's to the Cheramie Cemetery when an oil company began to drill a well on his burial site.  The well proved to be a dry hole and was capped.

Obituary:  New Orleans States (New Orleans, LA), Saturday, 7 September 1918:  Oldest Inhabitant of Cut Off, La., Dies at 88 - Mrs. Livody Pitre, 88, of Cut Off, La., the head of four generations numbering more than 100 descendants, died at her home in Cut Off, La., of which she was the oldest inhabitant.  She had been ill two years.  Of her eight children, four survive her, Mrs. D. Pitre, Mrs. R. Pike, Mrs. A. Marcombe and Leonce Pitre, all of Lafourche parish.  She was the grandmother of thirty-eight, of which twenty-seven survive, she was the great-grandmother of sixty-three, and is survived by one great-great-grandchild.  Joe and Paul Marcombe, grandsons, are in the army overseas.

Marie Eliza Pitre:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), 28 June 1945 - At New Orleans, La., on Tuesday, June 26, 1945, at 10:45 o'clock p.m. Ellizia Pitre, beloved wife of the late August Marcombe and mother of Joe Paul and Hector Marcombe, also Mrs. Felicien Guidry, Mrs. Ellizia Pierce, Mrs. Jackson Rebstock and Miss Marie Marcombe, stepmother of Sister Rosina of St. Louis, Mo., also survived by 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, a native of Cut Off, La.  Relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, which will take place from the Falgout funeral home, Raceland, La, on Thursday, June 28, 1945.  Religious services will be held at Cut Off, La., at Sacred Heart's Catholic church at 8:30 o'clock a.m.  Interment in Sacred Heart cemetery, Cut Off, La.  Falgout funeral home, Raceland, La., in charge.

 

Julien Leonce Pitre:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), 9 August 1946 - At the residence, 1836 Bayou Road, New Orleans, on Wednesday, August 7, 1946, at 11:05 o'clock a.m., Leonce J. Pitre, beloved husband of the late Augustine Pitre and father of Mrs. Felix Pitre, Mrs. Sheldon Pierce and Orleans Pitre, survived by 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild, age 80 years.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral, which will take place from the residence of Mrs. Felix Pitre, Cut Off, La., on Friday, August 9, 1946, at 8 o'clock a.m.  Religious services at Sacred Heart Catholic church, Cut Off, La.  Interment in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery.  Falgout Funeral Home, Raceland, La., in charge.
