Bourg; mother of Roberta "Bobbie" Duplantis of Bourg; and sister of
Cornelia Portier, Eldora Keiffe and Marguerite Rome. She is also
survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Autin Pitre; son,

be 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Gladys P. Price and husband, Charles Sr.
of Chauvin; one son, Renauld Joseph Portier of Houma; six grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one expected in
October; one step-great-grandchild; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Portier Jr.; her
parents, John Pitre Sr. and Marie Francis Autin Pitre; one son,
Richard Paul Portier; three brothers, John Pitre Jr., Elie Pitre and
Howard Pitre; and eight sisters, Margerite Rome, Westeria Carlos, America
LeCompte, Rosanna Robichaux, Emily Long, Anise Savoie, Francis LeBoeuf and
Eldora Keefe. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and
a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers.
She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She was very
fortunate to have seen and loved the fifth generation of her family. Her
family would like to thank Heritage Manor of Houma for all the care and
generosity they have given throughout the past three years. Chauvin

She was born October 27, 1923, in Chauvin, Louisiana to John Pitre, Sr. and Francis Autin. Marguerite was the last surviving child of their 18 children. Marguerite is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her first husband and father of her children, Albert Pitre, Sr.; and her second husband Thomas U. Rome. She is survived by her children, Yvonne ("Sis") Pitre Berry and Albert Pitre, Jr; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the family of her late second husband, including two stepchildren, Rita Fay Robichard and Robert Rome; and four step-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 29, 2009. Entombment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and on Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
