Obituary:  Lake Charles American Press (LA), Friday, 29 October 1965:  Funeral services for John C. Pitre, 86, of 502 W. College St., who died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday were to be at 3 p.m. today in the Hammer Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Walker officiating.  Burial was to be in the Orange Grove Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre was a resident of Lake Charles for 78 years and was formerly associated with the Lake Charles Implement Co.  He is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Pitre of Lake Charles and Robert L. Pitre of Beaumont, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. May Iwan of Fort Worth, Tex.; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Obituary:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Thursday, 26 November 1936:  Lake Charles, La., Nov. 26 - Mrs. Marie Frances Pitre, 51, lifelong resident of Lake Charles, who died Wednesday morning, will be buried Friday morning in Orange Grove cemetery following services in the home at 619 Belden street.  The daughter of the late Capt. Fred Courtsen, Mrs. Pitre was prominently known here.  Survivors are her husband, John C.; three sons, John, T.J. and Robert Lee, all of Lake Charles; one daughter, Mrs. Mae J. Iwan, Paris, Texas; three brothers, James P. Hansen, Fred Cordsen of Lake Charles and Fred Hansen of New Orleans.

May Josina Pitre:  Lake Charles American Press (LA) - Fort Worth, Texas -- Funeral services for May Pitre Iwan, 91, will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in Greenwood Mausoleum.  Mrs. Iwan died Saturday, June 27, 1998.  A native of Lake Charles and resident of Fort Worth, she was a registered nurse and longtime child care giver.  She was a member of the Louisiana Chapter of the Eastern Star and the Lutheran church.  Survivors include one daughter, Gladys Iwan Barner of Forth Worth; one son, Leonard Richard Iwan of Fort Worth; one brother, Thomas J. Pitre of Lake Charles; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Thomas Jacob Pitre:  Lake Charles American Press (LA), 18 February 2002:  Funeral services for Thomas J. "Pete" Pitre, 81, will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in Johnson Funeral Home.  The Rev. Joel Daugherty will officiate.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake.  Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Tuesday.  Mr. Pitre died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, in a local hospital.  He was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles.  He was a 1938 graduate of Lake Charles High School.  He worked for South Central Bell for 44 years, working as a supervisor for 35 of those years.  He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.  He was an active supporter of Bel's No Kill Animal Shelter.  He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.  Survivors include his wife, Thelma Martin Pitre of Lake Charles; two stepsons, Dave Dunn and Michael Carter, both of Lake Charles; and five grandchildren.

 

Robert Lane Pitre:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Monday, 29 January 1973:  Robert Lane Pitre, 48, 685 Lindberg, died at 5 p.m. Sunday in Baptist Hospital.  A native of Lake Charles, he had lived in Beaumont 14 years.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. in Kelley-Hixson Chapel.  Graveside rites will be held in Lake Charles cemetery at 3:30 p.m.  He is survived by one son, Randle Lane Pitre, Beaumont; a daughter, Miss Wanda Gail Pitre, Beaumont, and a brother, Thomas J. Pitre, Lake Charles.
