WILL of Enos Peets, of Ellenburgh, Clinton County, New York:  Admitted into Probate 14 April 1891:

I, Enos Peets of the town of Ellenburgh Clinton County and State of New York being of sound mind and memory do make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, that is to say:

First:  After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give, devise and bequeath to my wife Adalade Peets all my Real and Personal Estate of every name and nature whatsoever, to have and to hold as long as she remains my widdow and at the marriage or death of my wife Adalade Peets, my property then shall be equally divided among my children (viz.) Willie E. Peets, Frank Peets, John Peets, Joseph M. Peets, Alfred Peets and Henry Peets.  Likewise:  I make constitute and appoint my son Willie E. Peets to be Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.  In Witness Whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 28 day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Obituaries for the children:

William Peets:  Rochester Democrat and Chronicle (NY), Tuesday, 22 September 1936:  William Peets died Sunday evening, Sept. 20, 1936, at the Highland Hospital.  He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Florence Blair of Churubusco, N.Y., and Mrs. Sarah Hurst of Rochester; two sons, William and Henry Peets of Rochester; three brothers, Joseph Peets of Saratoga Springs, John Peets of Merrill, N.Y., and Henry Peets of Elliston, Mont.  The body was removed to Nyman & McIntee Inc. Funeral Chapel, 297 Chestnut Street from where the funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

John PeetsChateaugay Record (NY), Friday, 24 February 1939:  John Peets died at his home at Merrill on Wednesday night at 9:30 o'clock.  He had been in declining health for the past 11 years and for two years had been in a serious condition.  Death came as a merciful relief to his sufferings.  Mr. Peets was born at Merrill 67 years ago and his entire lifetime has been passed there.  He followed the occupation of farming and was an up to date progressive farmer. T he deceased was highly regarded as a kind, honest, industrious man, one who was always ready and willing to aid in the betterment of the community and his demise is now universally mourned.  Mr. Peets was united in marriage to Miss Delia St. Germaine 47 years ago, and to mourn his loss are his widow, four daughters and five sons, Mrs. Harry Gadway, Mrs. Wescott Moore, Mrs. Floyd Bracy, of Merrill, Mrs. Francis Hamlin, of Lyon Mountain, Edward and Walter, of Lyon Mountain, Ralph and Willard, of Rochester, and John Jr., who resides at home.  He also leaves two brothers, Joseph, of Saratoga Springs, and Henry, of Elliston, Mont.  The funeral services will be held at St. Bernard's church at Lyon Mountain at 9:30 o'clock on Saturday morning, Rev. Father Staie and Father Vermette will officiate.  Interment will be made in St. Bernard's cemetery at that place.
 

Joseph M. Peets:  The Times Record (Troy, NY), Wednesday, 9 July 1941:  Joseph M. Peets, father of Lawrence and Sheldon Peets of Schuylerville, died yesterday afternoon at his residence, 139 Lincoln Avenue, Saratoga Springs.  He was a native of Morello but had resided in Saratoga for 28 years.  Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rose Peets; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry E. Delaney and Mrs. Abbie Smith of Hudson Falls; another son, Donald Peets of Saratoga Springs, and a brother, Henry Peets of Helena, Mont.

 

Alfred Peets:  Chateaugay Record (NY), Friday, 23 November 1934:  A death which brought sorrow was that of Alfred Peets which took place at his home in the north part of the town last Saturday morning after an illness of six weeks.  The deceased was born at Merrill 57 years ago and for the past six years has resided here.  He followed the occupation of farming and was well known and highly respected by all.  Mr. Peets espoused the Seventh Day Adventist religion and followed faithfully the teachings of this creed.  He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Marguerite, Lenora and Deborah and two sons, Gerald, of Burke, and Freemont, who resides at home; four brothers, Henry of Elliston, Mont., William of East Rochester, Joseph, of Saratoga Springs and John, of Merrill.  Funeral services were conducted by Elder Schnitzler, of Watertown, at his late home on Monday afternoon and interment was made at the Lakeside cemetery on Lower Chateaugay Lake.
 

Henry Peets:  The Montana Standard (Butte, MT), Friday, 23 May 1947:  Deer Lodge, May 22 - Henry Peets, well-known Powell county resident, dropped dead Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock while at his work on the highway maintenance crew near Elliston.  Mr. Peets, a resident of Elliston, was born in Merrill, N.Y., March 28, 1882.  Surviving are his wife, Belle.  Services will be held on Saturday at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the church in Elliston.  Interment will be in Forest Vale cemetery near Helena.  Pallbearers will be Frank Dougherty, Harold Keen, Henry Lowery, Lynn Fuller, Srt Fee and Byron Hunt.
