Obituary:  Chateaugay Record (NY), Friday, 23 November 1934:  A death which brought sorrow was that of Alfred Peets which took place at his home in the north part of the town last Saturday morning after an illness of six weeks.  The deceased was born at Merrill 57 years ago and for the past six years has resided here.  He followed the occupation of farming and was well known and highly respected by all.  Mr. Peets espoused the Seventh Day Adventist religion and followed faithfully the teachings of this creed.  He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Marguerite, Lenora and Deborah and two sons, Gerald, of Burke and Freemont, who resides at home; four brothers, Henry of Elliston, Mont., William of East Rochester, Joseph of Saratoga Springs and John of Merrill.  Funeral services were conducted by Elder Schnitzler, of Watertown, at his late home on Monday afternoon and interment was made on the Lakeside cemetery on Lower Chateaugay Lake.

Obituary:  Chateaugay Record and Franklin County Democrat (Chateaugay, NY), Friday, 9 March 1956:  Mrs. Ellen Supernault died at her home in Merrill at 9 o'clock Friday night.  Death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage.  The deceased was born at Merrill 76 years ago, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Gadway, Sr.  Her entire life was spent at Merrill.  She was twice married, her first husband, Alfred Peets, died 21 years ago, and later on she married George Supernault who passed away 10 years ago.  Surviving are two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Lenore Tatro and Mrs. Leonard (Deborah) Tallman, Merrill; Gerald and Freemont Peets, Chateaugay; and two brothers, Tuffield Gadway, Chateaugay; and Richard Gadway, Merrill.  Funeral services took place Monday afternoon at the Chateaugay Funeral Home, Rev. Eugene Williams officiating and the body was placed in the vault at East Side cemetery to await a spring burial at Merrill.

Marguerite Eva Peets:  Chateaugay Record (NY), Friday, 9 September 1938:  Miss Margaret Peets died at her home at Merrill on Tuesday, August 29th, after a long illness.  The deceased was 36 years old and was a young lady of beautiful Christian character and her death is mourned by a wide circle of friends.  She received her early education at the Owshaw Missionary School, graduated from Chateaugay High School and the Plattsburgh Normal.  The survivors are her mother, Mrs. Ellen Peets of Merrill, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Leonard Tallman of New York, Mrs. Henry Tatro of Washington D.C., Gerald of New York and Freemont of Chateaugay.  Funeral services were held at St. John's church at Merrill last Thursday, and interment was made at Lakeside cemetery.

Lenora Diane Peets:  Plattsburgh Press Republican (NY), Monday, 26 October 1992:  Dannemora:  Lenora P. Tatro, 87, of 127 Cook St., Dannemora and formerly of Merrill, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1992, at Massena Memorial Hospital.  She was born Feb. 26, 1905 in Merrill, the daughter of Alfred and Ellen (Gadway) Peets.  In her earlier years, she was a group parent at the Children's Home in Plattsburgh before retiring in 1965.  She had lived on the Bigelow Road in Merrill and has lived with her son and daughter-in-law in Dannemora for the past 20 years.  She married Henry Tatro, Sept. 28, 1935.  He died Sept. 10, 1936.  Mrs. Tatro is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roland and Betty Tatro of Dannemora and Garth and Shirley King of New London, Conn.; a daughter, Freida Green of New London, Conn.; a brother, Gerald Peets of Constable; a sister, Deborah Ard of Chase Mills, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  A brother, Fremont Peets; a sister, Marguerite Peets; and a grandson, Garth King Jr.; all died before her.  There will be no calling hours.  Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Chateaugay Funeral Home with the Rev. David O. Stanton officiating.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Chateaugay Lake.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Gerald Alfred Peets:  Plattsburgh Press Republican (NY), Friday, 13 November 1992:  Constable:  Gerald A. Peets Sr., 81, died Thursday Nov. 12, 1992, at the home of his granddaughter, Dianne Shantie, on Fountain Street in Constable.  He was born March 6, 1911, in Merrill, the son of Alfred and Ellen (Gadway) Peets.  In his earlier years, he had been employed with the Grumann Corporation on Long Island.  He had been employed with Coca-Cola Company in Connecticut, and had been a dairy farmer in Chateaugay for many years.  He is survived by his wife, the former Madeline Vaughn, whom he married Jan. 19, 1933, at the Chateaugay Methodist Church; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gerald Peets Jr. of Wingdale and William and Helen Peets of Middletown, Conn.; a sister, Deborah Ard of Chase Mills; two grand-children; four great-grand-children, and one great-great-granddaughter.  Two sisters, Lenora Tatro and Marguerite Peets; and a brother, Fremont Peets, died earlier.  A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Chateaugay Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay. Memorial donations may be made to Caring Friends of Hospice.

Fremont Joseph Peets:  Plattsburgh Press-Republican, Monday, 17 October 1988:  Chateaugay:  Fremont Joseph Peets, 74, of the Earlville Road, Chateaugay, died Sunday Oct. 16, 1988, in Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone.  He was born May 4, 1914 in Ellenburg, the son of Alfred and Ellen (Gadway) Peets.  He had been employed by the town of Chateaugay for 16 years between 1949 and 1965.  He then moved to Massachusetts where he had worked for various plastic companies for 11 years before returning to Chateaugay in 1976 to the farm on the Earlville Road.  He was an elder with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Brainardsville.  Survivors include his wife, the former Maida Bruso, who he married March 9, 1935 in Chateaugay; one son, Fremont Joseph Peets Jr. of Clinton, Mass.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jeannet) Rousell of Dracut, Mass., Elizabeth Virginia Peets of Chateaugay and Kathryn Marie Peets of Chateaugay; one brother, Gerald of Chateaugay; two sisters, Lenora Tatro of Dannemora and Deborah Ard of Chateaugay Lake; and two grandsons, Fremont Peets III and David Peets, both of Massachusetts.  One son, David, died in July 1975, and a sister, Marguerite Peets, also died earlier.  Calling hours will be today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chateaugay Funeral Home.  The funeral will be Tuesday at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

Deborah Ruth Peets:  Deborah R. Ard, 86, of state Route 374, Chateaugay, died Thursday, Jan, 17, 2008, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y.  She was born in Chateaugay, N.Y., on June 24, 1921, the daughter of the late Alfred and Ellen (Gadway) Peets.  Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Spring burial will be in the Brainardsville Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home, Chateaugay, N.Y.
