Notes for Belle S. Cory:
Obituary: The Independent Record (Helena, MT), Tuesday, 18 October 1960: Belle Cory Peets, R.N., 85, of Elliston, member of an early-day merchant family, died this morning at St. Peter's Hospital where she had been a patient for the past year. Mrs. Peets was born Oct. 23, 1875. Her father, a prominent merchant, operated the Bach-Cory Mercantile Co. Mrs. Peets spent her girlhood years in Helena. While in nurses training in the lidwest, she met and married Dr. Albert Corner, a physician and surgeon. Dr. Corner died several years after their marriage, and his wife returned to Montana. In 1911, she married Henry Peets, who was engaged for many years in mining and farming in the Elliston area. In 1912, Mrs. Peets lost the sight of her eyes, but continued leading a comparatively normal life and doing all her own housework. After the death of Mr. Peets, she operated rental property in Elliston. She had followed the nursing profession in Butte and Deer Lodge. Survivors include two cousins, Fannie Cory Cooney, noted cartoonist, of Seattle, Wash., who visited here recently with Mrs. Peets, and another cousin, William Dickinson of Missoula. A brother, James Cory, died many years ago in Helena. Funeral arrangements are pending at Hagler Mortuary.
