MISC:  Chateaugay Record (NY), Friday, 23 November 1934:  Four members of the same family were seriously injured in an automobile accident on the Keeseville-Plattsburgh highway late Sunday afternoon while enroute from their home in Saratoga Springs to Chateaugay to attend the funeral of Alfred Peets.  The injured:  Joseph Peets, 139 Lincoln Ave., Saratoga, a brother of Alfred Peets, lacerated wounds of face and three fractured ribs.  Mrs. Joseph Peets, 54, his wife, lacerated wounds of scalp fractured leg and contusions.  Donald Peets, 19, a son, fracture of the upper jaw, fracture of hand, fracture of both bones in right lower leg.  Arnold Peets, 20, a son, fractured leg.  The four were riding in a Ford V-8 sedan, and at the time of the accident Donald was operating the automobile.  The accident happened a short distance north of Ausable Chasm.  The car after leaving the cement road skidded on the slippery macadam went into the ditch overturned twice and struck a tree.  Passing motorists pulled the injured from the wreckage and brought them to the Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh where they were attended by Dr. L.G. Barton, Jr.

Obituary:  The Times Record (Troy, NY), Wednesday, 9 July 1941:  Joseph M. Peets, father of Lawrence and Sheldon Peets of Schuylerville, died yesterday afternoon at his residence, 139 Lincoln Avenue, Saratoga Springs.  He was a native of Morello but had resided in Saratoga for 28 years.  Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rose Peets; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry E. Delaney and Mrs. Abbie Smith of Hudson Falls; another son, Donald Peets of Saratoga Springs, and a brother, Henry Peets of Helena, Mont.

- The Saratogian (Saratoga Springs, NY), Friday, 11 July 1941:  The funeral of Joseph M. Peets was largely attended today at his residence, 139 Lincoln, at 9 a.m. and a half hour later at St. Peter's Catholic church, where the Rev. Father Arthur P. Carol was celebrant of the Funeral Mass.  There was a profusion of flowers.  Burial was in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, S. Glens Falls.  Bearers were Joseph Doherty, Joseph Hennessey, David W. Burke, Clive E. Myrameso, Frank Pullman and Frank P. O'Rourke.  An honorary escort from the brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers included Jeremiah J. Hayes, John Donahue, John Doherty and Edward Fitzpatrick.

Obituary:  The Post Star (NY), 3 July 1909 - Mrs. Laura Elizabeth Peets, aged thirty-two years, died yesterday morning at the family home on Marion street.  She was born in Malone and had been a resident of this village for four years.  She is survived by her husband, two sons and four daughters and her mother, Saliva Gadway, of Lyon Mountain.  The remains will be removed to Lyon Mountain, where the funeral will be held Sunday afternoon.

Peets, will be conducted at the residence, 139 Lincoln avenue, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.  A requiem high mass will be celebrated at St Peter's Church at 9:30.  Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, South Glens Falls.  Mrs. Peets died at her home yesterday morning.  She was born in Glens Falls, Dec. 1, 1880, and had been a resident of this city for 49 years.  Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jere Delaney, this city; one son, Donald Peets; four grandchildren of Montreal; one stepson, Lawrence L. Peets, Schuylerville; three sisters, Mrs. Isabel Smith, Miami, Mrs. Sarah Grinnell, Cleveland and Mrs. Margaret Harrington, Hudson Falls; two brothers, William Maloney of South Glens Falls and Hugh Maloney of Utlca.  Friends may call at the residence.

Adelia Ethel Peets:  The Saratogian (NY), 28 October 1918 - Mrs. Roy E. Barber, formerly Miss Ethel Peets of this city, died at her home in Whitehall Saturday night following a short illness of pneumonia.  She was twenty-one years old and leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Peets; two sisters, Mary and Isabell; and four brothers, Sheldon, Arnold and Donald, all of this city; and Lawrence of the U. S. Training camp of Newport. R. I.  The funeral will be held at Lion Mountain, Tuesday and will be private.

 

Lawrence Delevan Peets:  Greenwich Journal, Salem Press (NY), Thursday, 9 October 1980:  Laurence Delevan Peets, 80, of Argyle, died Tuesday, October 7, in the Glens Falls hospital after a long illness.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the M. B. Kilmer Funeral home, Argyle, and at 11a.m. in Notre Dame de Loures church, Schuylervllle.  Interment will be in the Glens Falls cemetery.  Friends may call today, Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. at the funeral home.  Born June 6, 1900, in Lyon Mountain, he was the son of Joseph and Cora Gadway Peets.  He was a Navy veteran of World War I and had been a produce dealer in the area for several years, retiring in 1962.  Mr. Peets was a life member and past commander of Old Saratoga post, American Legion, past commander of the Saratoga County American Legion, and former chef de gare of the 40 and 8 of Saratoga county.  He was also a past grand garde de la Porte of New York state 40 and 8.  Mr. Peets was a member of the 10 Point Fish and Game club.  He had served as a Democratic committeeman in Argyle.  He was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes church in Schuylerville.  Survivors are; his wife, Ethel Smith Peets; a son, Joseph Peets of Schuylerville; two daughters, Betty Fiaschetti of Syracuse and Madeline Mura of Liverpool, two stepsons, Julian Cornell of Colorado Springs, Colo,, and Bruce Cornell of Schuylerville; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Swatling of Hudson Falls and Isabel Delaney of Saratoga Springs; a brother, Donald Peets of Montreal.

Martin Sheldon Peets:  The Post Star (Glen Falls, NY), Tuesday, 7 October 1952:  Saratoga Springs:  Sheldon Peets, 480 1/2 Broadway, died Sunday morning at his home after a long illness. He was born In Lyon Mountain and had lived in Schuylerville until 10 years ago when he moved to Saratoga Springs.  A member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, he had worked as a trainman for the Delaware and Hudson Railroad until he was taken ill several years ago.  He attended school in Saratoga.  He is survived by his wife, Thelma Riley Peets; four daughters, Mrs. Veronica Splllane, Saratoga Springs; Mrs. Heien Petro, Corinth; Mrs. Barbara Corp and Miss Karen Peets; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Swatling, Northumberland, and Mrs. Isabella Delaney, Saratoga Springs; two brothers, Laurence D. Peets, Schuylervllle, and Donald Peets, Montreal; a grandson, Donald Sheldon Corp, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 9 A.M. at the residence and at 9:30 in St; Peters Church.  Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Mary Peets:  Misc. - The Saratogian (NY), 15 February 1917:  A communication was also received from the Craig Colony for Epileptics that Mary Peets, of Saratoga Springs, aged nine years, had been admitted to that institution.  Mary Peets is listed at the Craig Colony for Epileptics in Groveland, Livingston, NY, in censuses for 1920 (age 11, patient), 1925 (age 17, inmate), 1930 (age 21, patient), and 1940 (age 42 sic, inmate).  Tombstone marker inscribed Mary Peets in Craig Colony Memorial Cemetery, Sonyea, Livingston, NY (no dates).

 

Abbie Rose Peets:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Thursday, 5 June 1986:  Rose P. Swatling, 76, of the John Burke Apartments, died Tuesday (June 3, 1986) at Glens Falls Hospital.  Born June 21, 1909, she was the daughter of Joseph and Cora Gadway Peets and the widow of Charles Swatling, who died in 1982.  Survivors include a son and a granddaughter.  At Mrs. Swatling's request, her body was donated to Albany Medical College.  Arrangements are under the direction of the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, Fort Edward.

 

Isobel M. Peets:  The Daily Gazette (Schenectady, NY), Saturday, 10 June 1995:  Saratoga Springs - Mrs. Isobel Peets Delaney, 82, of Lincoln Avenue, died Thursday at Saratoga Hospital.  Born in Fort Edward, Washington County, Mrs. Delaney lived in Saratoga Springs for many years.  She was a graduate of Albany State Teachers College and later received her master's degree from Columbia University.  For more than 35 years, she worked at the children's day care center at Columbia University, and she taught night courses in psychology for several years.  Mrs. Delaney was also a member of the Church of St. Peter.  She was a member of the Catholic Daughters pf the Americas Court McLaughlin and the Historical Society of Saratoga Springs.  Her husband, Jeri Delaney, died during World War II.  Survivors include a niece, Roberta Peets of Ottawa, and two nephews, Steve Peets of Richmond, British Columbia, and Douglas Peets of Montreal.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of St. Peter.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls.  There will be no calling hours.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Saratoga Hospital Foundation.  Arrangements are by the Wm. J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home.

Joseph Arnold Peets:  Chateaugay Record (NY), Friday, 30 November 1934:  Fatally injured in an automobile accident Sunday afternoon, November 18, Arnold Peets, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Peets of Saratoga, died in the Physicians hospital at Plattsburgh late last Wednesday night.  It will be recalled that the young man accompanied by his parents and a younger brother, were enroute from their home to Chateaugay to attend the funeral of the late Alfred Peets, when the car in which they were riding crashed through a guard rail on a long curve in the Ausable Chasm road.  The four occupants of the car were injured and being taken to the Plattsburgh hospital, it was not considered that Arnold was seriously injured although he suffered a fractured leg and minor bruises.  A more thorough examination however revealed that his condition was critical and he gradually weakened until Wednesday night when the end came.  His remains were taken to Saratoga Springs where funeral services were held Saturday morning with solemn requiem high mass at St. Peter's church.  The funeral was attended by several undergraduates of the Albany College of Pharmacy where Mr. Peets was on the dean's list and recently elected to Kappa Psi, national honorary fraternity.  He was also a member of the finance board and secretary of the staffs of Mortar and Pestle and Alembie Pharmaton, college publication.  The parents of the deceased were former residents of Merrill, and numerous relatives of the young man are residents of this community.

Peets:  The Gazette (Montreal, Quebec), Thursday, 9 June 1988:  Peets, Professor Donald L.  Suddenly and peacefully at Catherine Booth Hospital, on June 6, 1988.  Beloved husband of Marion Best and brother of Isobel Peets Delaney of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.  Dear father of Steve and Inge (Petersen), Roberta and Yogi (Sepp), Doug, and Michelle Feder and the late Ken and grandfather of Jamie and Kim.  A private service was held with the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Salvation Army, Montreal, would be appreciated.
