Obituary:  The Muskegon Chronicle (Muskegon, MI), Friday, 25 February 1955:  Gideon Peters, of Ludington, dies at 94:  Ludington, Feb. 25 - Gideon Peters, 94, of 405 E. Dowland street, died this morning at his home after a lingering illness.  Mr. Peters was born April 15, 1860 in Alfred, Ont., and came here 65 years ago.  He was a retired harness maker, retiring 35 years ago.  He was married to his wife, Harthismise, in 1899 in Ontario.  He was a member of St. Simon's Church.  Survivors, in addition to his wife, include six sons, Louis and Phillip of Saginaw, Frank and Lawrence of Ludington, Leo of Munising and Roy of Grand Rapids, and one daughter, Mrs. William Miller of Ludington.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. at St. Simon's Church.  Burial will be in Pere Marquette Cemetery.  The Rosary will be said Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Butler Funeral Home.

Obituary:  The Muskegon Chronicle (Muskegon, MI), Wednesday, 1 March 1961:  Mrs. Peters, 89, leaves 159 descendants:  Ludington - Mrs. Harthimise Peters, 89, who leaves 159 descendants, died Tuesday at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. LeVerne Schrouder, Ravenna, after an illness of two weeks.  She was born Dec. 25, 1871, at Bay City, the former Harthimise Clemens.  She was married in 1880, at Alfred, Canada, to Gideon Peters, who died in 1955.  The couple moved to Ludington shortly after their marriage, and Mrs. Peters lived in this city until moving to Ravenna 18 months ago.  She was a charter member of St. Simon's Altar Society.  Surviving are four sons, Roy of Clinton, Frank of Fountain, Phillip of Saginaw, and Lawrence, whose address is unknown; a daughter, Mrs. William Miller of Greenville; 37 grandchildren and 117 great-grandchildren.  The Rosary will be Friday at 8 p.m. at Butler Plowe Funeral Home, where the body will be brought Thursday.  The funeral will be 9:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Simon's Church.  Burial will be at Pere Marquette Cemetery.

Joseph Ernest Pitre:  Sheboygan Press (WI), Monday, 20 January 1947:  Funeral services for Ernst C. Peters, husband of the former Olga Wangemann, former Sheboygan resident, were held Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Downs Funeral chapel at Superior, Wis.  Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery, South Superior.  Relatives attending the rites from this vicinity included Mrs. Clara Mohr and Adolph Wangemann, Sheboygan, and Mrs. George Meggers, Franklin.

 

Leroy 'Roy' J. Peters:  Ludington Daily News (MI), Thursday, 17 April 1975:  Roy J. Peters, 80, of Clinton, formerly of Ludington, died at 6:45 a.m. this morning at his home in Clinton after a five year illness.  He was born in Ludington June 27, 1894 and was married in Munising Aug. 18, 1917 to Mazie M. MacKenzie, who survives.  He has resided in Clinton for the past 25 years.  He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church of Clinton and was a retired farmer.  Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Trudell of Platsburg, N.Y., Mrs. Edgar (Rita) Schneider of Ludington, Miss Ruth Peters, at home, Mrs. Thomas (Carol) Jenks of Tucker, Ga. and Mrs. William (Deanna) Noah of Norwalk, Calif.; three sons, Robert and William of Clinton and Harold of Midwest City, Okla.; 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother Frank of Ludington; and one sister, Mrs. Marie Miller of Muskegon.  He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Peters; one daughter, six brothers and one sister.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Clinton with the Rev. James Lee and the Rev. Leon Kennedy, the celebrants.  The Rosary will be recited at the Proctor Funeral Home in Clinton at 8 p.m. Friday.  Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Pere Marquette Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Schiller officiating.  Alexander-Rye Funeral Home, Ludington, is in charge of local arrangements.

 

Francis Louis Peters:  The Muskegon Chronicle (Muskegon, MI), Wednesday, 21 July 1976:  Frank L. Peters, 80, of 1625 Peck, died Tuesday at his home.  Retired from Teledyne Continental Motors, he was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Ludington VFW Post.  Arrangements by Sytsema.

James Philip Peters:  The Saginaw News (Saginaw, MI), Tuesday, 7 May 1963:  Peters, Philip L., 526 North Warren Avenue.  Passed away late Monday evening at Saginaw General Hospital after a lengthy illness.  Age 62 years.  He was born July 11, 1900 in Ludington, and had been a resident of Saginaw the past 40 years.  He was employed at the Chevrolet Service Parts Plant.  Surviving are one daughter and one son, Mrs. Robert J. Trew and Laurel J. Peters, both of Saginaw; seven grandchildren; also one sister and three brothers, Mrs. William Miller, Ravena, Mich.; Roy Peters, Clinton, Mich.; Frank Peters, Ford Lake, Mich.; Lawrence Peters, Chicago, Ill.  Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Shea Funeral Home.  Dr. Hugh Townley will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Marie Ruth Peters:  The Sunday Chronicle (Muskegon, MI), Sunday, 4 December 1988:  Mrs. Marie R. Miller, age 75, died Fri. afternoon, Dec. 2, 1988, in West Olive.  She was born Dec. 15, 1912 in Ludington.  She had owned several restaurants, including the Farmer's Market Restaurant in Muskegon, and was very active in the Foster Grandparents program.  The former Marie Peters, she was preceded in death by her husband Wm. Miller in 1970.  Survivors include her children: Wm (JoAnn) Miller of OK, Roger (Helen) Miller of West Olive, Robert (Carol) Miller of FL, Donna Schrouder of Muskegon, Rosemary Nichalson of Muskegon, Helen Phelivan of WI, Patricia Cradlebaugh of Whitehall; 39 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Lina LaVasseur and Annette Marie Miller.  Services will be held at 3:00 pm Tues. at the Sytsema Chapel, Rev. Alan P. Miller officiating, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation at the Sytsema Funeral Home will be from 7-9 pm Sun., 2-4 & 7-9 pm Mon.  Suggested Memorial: Hospice of Holland.
