Born at Summerside, Prince Edward Island, September 21, 1892, he was the son of the late Leo and Mary (Brown) Peters. He had been a resident of Smyrna Mills for 44 years. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; five sons, Leo, Lawrence and Francis, all of Smyrna Mills, Earlon of Plantsville, Conn., Kenneth of Milford, Mass.; three daughters, Mrs. Archie McDonald of Smyrna Mills, Mrs. Cassius Heckett of Old Orchard Beach, Mrs. Joseph Cessario of Plantsville, Conn.; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Cail of Brownville Junction, Mrs. Lawrence Small of Danvers, Mass., Mrs. Jack Hubbard of South Nelson, N.B.; two brothers, Albert and Henry, both of South Nelson, N.B.; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was born April 12, 1891 in Merrill, daughter of Michael and Ida Splan. She is survived by: four sons, Leo and Lawrence, both of Smyrna Mills, Kenneth of Mendon, Mass., and Erlon of Meriden, Conn.; two daughters, Beulah Hackett of Augusta and Dolly Cessario of Southington, Conn.; 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Island Falls, with the Rev. Antonio Amato officiating. Hackett, 78, of Lake Ave., died Saturday at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Smyrna Mills, a daughter of Francis and Mary E. Splan Peters. She attended local schools and graduated from Merrill High School in 1934. She and her husband, Cassius O. Hackett, moved here during World War II from Smyrna Mills. For many years until her retirement in 1980, Mrs. Hackett was employed by Central Maine Power Company. She retired as supervisor for the Southern District Billing Department in the Augusta office. She was a member of St. Margaret's Parish. Her husband died in 1958. A son, Terrance H. Hackett, died in April 1993. Surviving are two daughters, Dawn Covault of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Mrs. David A. (Carole M.) Ray of Scarborough; a sister, Dorothy Cessario, and a brother, Earlon Peters, both of Plantsville, Conn; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Biddeford. Arrangements are by the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home.

Born Oct. 5, 1924, in Merril, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Splan) Peters. She was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church and the Ladies' Guild of the church. Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Teresa McInnis and her husband Stephen, and Joanne Maskell and her husband David, all of Plantsville, and Patricia Querino and her husband Carl of Marlboro, Mass.; a brother, Carl E. Peters and his wife Roberta of Meriden; five grandchildren, Michael and Christopher McInnis, Jeremy Musshorn, and Carrie and Matthew Querino; she was predeceased by a daughter, Paula Jane Cessario; four brothers, Leo, Lawrence, Francis, and Kenneth Peters; and two sisters, Beulah Hackett and Virginia McDonald. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
