He was born May 19, 1915, in Merrill, the son of Frank and Mary (Splan) Peters. He was a member of the Oakfield VFW and Fish & Game Club. He is survived by eight children, Elden of Merrill, Rodney of Houlton, Lorraine Eaton of Coventry, Conn., Laurel of Meriden, Conn., Cheryl Sullivan of Manchester, Conn., Timothy of Dyer Brook, Tammy Peters of Manchester, Conn. and Trina Peters of Oakfield; 15 grandchildren, one great-grandson; one brother, Carl Peters of Meriden, Conn.; two sisters, Dolly Cerio of Southington, Conn. and Beulah Hackett of Old Orchard Beach; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Rachel in August, 1992; one daughter, Demaris Lynn; and three brothers, Leo, Kenneth and Francis. Friends may call at the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the County Road Baptist Church, with Greg Arnold officiating. Spring interment will be in Merrill Cemetery.

He was born June 25, 1946, in Merrill, the son of Lawrence and Rachel (Clark) Peters. Elden enjoyed fiddleheading, fishing and all outdoor activities. He was very instrumental in helping with the Merrill Millstream Park. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary (Currier) Peters of Oakfield; 2 children: his son, Lonnie Peters and his wife, Tonya, of Hubbarston MA, and daughter, Misty Hogencamp and her husband, Mark, of Carmel; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Rodney and Angelina Peters of Linneus, Lorraine and Jim Eaton of Coventry, CT, Laurel and Linda Peters of Oakfield, Cheryl Sullivan of Manchester, CT, Timothy and Debbie Peters of Dyer Brook, Tammy and Al Garcia of Coventry, CT, Trina Peters and Pam of Meridian, CT; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Damaris.
