Obituary: Beaumont Journal (TX), Friday, 2 December 1966: Groves - Evard Pitre, 74, of 6288 Hansen, Groves, died about 8:40 a.m. Friday in Mid-Jefferson County Hospital after a sudden illness. He was a painting contractor. Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home of Port Arthur will announce arrangements. A native of Opelousas, La., he had lived in the Port Arthur-Groves area 43 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Don Brawner and Mrs. Gene Jennings, both of Groves, and Mrs. V.H. Clarke of Houston; five sons, Garland and I.J. Pitre, both of Houston, Francis Pitre of Groves, Clayton Pitre of Port Neches and Richard Pitre of Waco; three sisters, Mrs. T.S. LaFleur, Miss Sarah Pitre and Mrs. Charles Wallace, all of Elton, La.; 27 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Obituary: Beaumont Journal (TX), Monday, 3 May 1982: Groves - Funeral for Hilda Pitre, 89, of Groves was to be at 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home of Port Arthur. She died Saturday at Mid-Jefferson County Hospital after an illness. A native of Opelousas, La., she lived in Groves 58 years. Survivors include five sons, Garland J. Pitre and I.J. Pitre, both of Houston, Francis E. Pitre of Groves, Clayton J. Pitre of Port Arthur and Richard Pitre of Kerrville; three daughters, Romanell Borne of Houston, Katherine Clark of Witchita Falls, and Barbara Jennings of Port Arthur; a sister, Regina Pitre of Lafayette, La.; 30 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Andrew Louis Pitre: Clarion News (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 19 December 1940: Funeral Held in Texas for Wreck Victim - Andrew Pitre, Native Opelousean, Dies of Injuries Sustained in Cycle, Auto Collision - Andrew Louis Pitre, 26 years, native of this city and a resident of Port Arthur, died in St. Mary's hospital in the Texas city Sunday morning at seven o'clock from injuries he sustained five hours earlier when his motorcycle collided with an automobile in one of Port Arthur's streets. Perry Tucke, 24 years of Lakeview, Texas, who was riding on the cycle with Mr. Pitre, is not expected to live. Funeral services for Mr. Pitre were held Monday afternoon at four o'clock in the St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Interment was made in the Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers who served at final rites were Ned Blanchard, Fred Jones, E. O. Gipson, Sam Huber, T. J. Redgers and Charles Mondrack. Mr. Pitre is survived by his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Pitre of Port Arthur; five brothers and three sisters, Garland of Baton Rouge; Francis, Clayton, Richard and I. J. Pitre of Port Arthur, Misses Romanell, Catherine and Barbara Ann Pitre of Port Arthur. Attending funeral services from Opelousas were Mrs. Gus Tajague and family, Mrs. Ulysee Pitre and Mrs. Albert Mouret, and son Harry. Mr. Pitre was a nephew of Mrs. Tajague, Mrs. Pitre and Mrs. Mouret. Mr. Pitre, painter and paper hanger, suffered a badly lacerated left leg. It was broken and mangled from the hip to the knee. He suffered loss of a large amount of blood. The car, which the motorcycle hit headon, was driven by Lawrence LeBlanc, 1207 Houston avenue, police said. Riding with Mr. LeBlanc were Nelles Dugas, 507 Ninth street, and George A. Robert, also of Port Arthur. Mr. LeBlanc stopped and gave aid at the scene of the crash and later went to the police station where he reported the accident.
- Beaumont Journal (TX), Tuesday, 17 December 1940: Port Arthur, Dec. 17 - A motorcycle crash Sunday claimed its second victim Monday at 6:30 p.m. when Perry Wilburn Tucker, 24, died in St. Mary's Gates Memorial hospital. The other motorcycle rider, Andrew L. Pitre, 25, painter, died about 7 a.m. Sunday in the same hospital. Young Tucker died of a fractured skull. He had been a Texas company employee for the past five years. He was a delegate to the state Democratic convention last summer. He belonged to the Port Arthur Motorcycle club, of which Pitre was president. Born in Gadley, he had lived here since 1925. Only survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Tucker, 5216 Sixth street, six uncles and nine aunts. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Grannier's chapel with Dr. W.M. Wright, supply pastor of First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. Funeral rites for Mr. Pitre were held Monday afternoon in St. James' Catholic church. The traffic fatalities were the fourth and fifth for the city of Port Arthur for 1940. The motorcycle Pitre and Tucker occupied collided with an automobile driven by Lawrence LeBlanc, 2207 Houston avenue, the police department reported.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angelina Pitre; grandson, Eddie Potts; son-in-law, Dean Potts; brothers, Andrew, Clayton, and I. J. Pitre; sisters, Romanell Borne, and Barbara Jennings. He is survived by 7 children and spouses, Edie Potts, David and Jane Pitre, Evard Pitre, Lynda Tanner, Karen and Larry Schooley, Donna Minter, Garry and Diane Pitre, 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Francis Pitre, Richard Pitre; and sister, Katherine Clarke. Francis Errol Pitre: Port Arthur News (TX), Wednesday, 21 June 2006: Groves - Francis Errol Pitre, 87, of Groves passed away on Monday June 19, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. A native of Opelousas, Louisiana, he was born on September 27, 1918 to Evard and Hilda Pitre. Mr. Pitre was a lifelong resident of the Port Arthur and Groves area and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a self-employed painter, an apprentice instructor for the Port Arthur Painters Local Union, and the owner of Groves Hamburger and Groves Ice & Food. He proudly served his country in World War II in the Army Air Force as a staff sergeant. Mr. Pitre was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Roma Nell Borne and Barbara Jennings, and four brothers, Andrew, Clayton, I. J., and Garland Pitre. Surviving Mr. Pitre are his loving wife of 62 years, Lucille Syma Pitre, sister, Katherine Clarke and brother, Richard Pitre. He also leaves 6 children to cherish his memory, Marcus Pitre and his wife Margie, Raymond Pitre and his wife Barbara, Chris Pitre and his wife Amy, Kenneth Pitre and his wife Yicela, Marion Pitre and his wife Tammy, and daughter, Lucille Ayers and her husband Bill. Also left to cherish his memory are 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 22, 2006 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a Vigil at 7:00 P.M. Mrs. Borne was a native of Opelousas, Louisiana and lived in Groves since 1940. She was retired from Brown & Root as a Micro Technologist. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Borne Hebert of Houston; four sons, John A.
