Obituary: Beaumont Enterprise (Beaumont, TX), Tuesday, 20 March 1990: Clayton J. 'Nig' Pitre, 69, died Saturday at his home after an illness. A native of Carencro, Louisiana, Clayton lived most of his life in Port Arthur and Port Neches. He was retired from B. F. Goodrich with 37 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and a Navy veteran of WWII. Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 20, 1990, 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Groves under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clayton 'Bess' Pitre of Port Arthur, one daughter, Mrs. Jodie Vazquez and son-in-law, Roger Vazquez of Richmond, Texas, four brothers, Garland Pitre of Pasadena, Texas, Francis Pitre of Groves, Texas, I. J. Pitre of Missouri City, Texas, and Richard Pitre of Austin, Texas, three sisters, Nell Borne and Barbara Jennings of Port Arthur, Texas and Katherine Clarke of Tyler, Texas, a granddaughter and grandson, Andrea and Roger Vazquez of Richmond, TX, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Doug Recio, Mike Recio, Judge John Borne, Harlan Jennings, Evard Pitre and C. D. Reed. All the other nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Obituary: The Beaumont Enterprise (Beaumont, TX), Monday, 17 November 2003: Marie Edwards, 87, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Friday afternoon, November 14, 2003 at Triumph Hospital Southwest in Sugarland, TX. She was born in Hochheim, TX on October 10, 1916 to Frank F. Johnson and Mary Etta Davis. Marie lived in Port Arthur for a number of years before moving to Houston in 1954. She retired from Texas Instruments as a supervisor in 1981 after 13 years of service. Visitation will be on Monday evening, November 17, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral services for Marie will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Sigman officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Edwards; her daughter, Etta Brown; her granddaughter, Charla Warren; her sister, Ruth Stuckey; her brothers, Bill Johnson and Monte Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Jodie Vazquez of Richmond, Texas; her two sons, Richard Wayne Edwards of Sugarland, TX and Walter Ernest Hebert of St. Louis, Mo.; her sister, Lucille Klingler of Austin, TX; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Obituary: The Beaumont Enterprise (TX), Tuesday, 25 February 2003: Bessie Pitre, 85, of Port Neches died, Sunday February 23, 2003 at her resident in Richmond. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Broussardis in Nederland with Rev. Kenneth Hatch officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at the mortuary. Mrs. Pitre was a native of Brookhaven, Mississippi and lived in the Port Neches area since 1937. She retired from Leo & Willies and the Schooner Restaurant as a waitress. Mrs. Pitre was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton J. Nigi Pitre. She is survived by her daughter, Jodie Vazquez of Richmond; two grandchildren, Andrea Marie Vazquez and Roger Vazquez both of Richmond; one great-grandchild, Haley Marie Keogh of Richmond; one sister Gladys Hatch of Silsbee. Also several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
