Obituary: Plattsburgh Press Republican (NY), Monday, 17 October 1988: Chateaugay: Fremont Joseph Peets, 74, of the Earlville Road, Chateaugay, died Sunday Oct. 16, 1988, in Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone. He was born May 4, 1914 in Ellenburg, the son of Alfred and Ellen (Gadway) Peets. He had been employed by the town of Chateaugay for 16 years between 1949 and 1965. He then moved to Massachusetts where he had worked for various plastic companies for 11 years before returning to Chateaugay in 1976 to the farm on the Earlville Road. He was an elder with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Brainardsville. Survivors include his wife, the former Maida Bruso, who he married March 9, 1935 in Chateaugay; one son, Fremont Joseph Peets Jr. of Clinton, Mass.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jeannet) Rousell of Dracut, Mass., Elizabeth Virginia Peets of Chateaugay and Kathryn Marie Peets of Chateaugay; one brother, Gerald of Chateaugay; two sisters, Lenora Tatro of Dannemora and Deborah Ard of Chateaugay Lake; and two grandsons, Fremont Peets III and David Peets, both of Massachusetts. One son, David, died in July 1975, and a sister, Marguerite Peets, also died earlier. Calling hours will be today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chateaugay Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

Chateaugay - Maida Peets, 76, of Earlville Road, Chateaugay, died at the
Medical Center Hospital of Vermont in Burlington on Monday, Dec. 19, 1994.
She was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Lyon Mountain, the eldest of 11 children of
Desford and Minerva (Gadway) Bruso. She was married on March 9, 1935,
to Fremont J. Peets, son of Alfred and Ellen (Gadway) Peets.
Mr. and Mrs. Peets, longtime residents of Chateaugay, purchased their farm in
1952 where Mr. Peets died Oct. 16, 1988. Survivors include three
daughters, Elizabeth Peets, who continues to reside on the family farm,
Jeanne and her husband, Robert Roussel of the Sheewoods Road, Chateaugay,
and Kathy Peets of Depot Street, Chateaugay; a son, Fremont "Joe"
Peets Jr. and his wife, Lois (Gadway) Peets, of Clinton, Mass.; three
grandsons, Fremont Peets III and his wife, the former Lisa Hamel of
Lunenburg, Mass., David Peets of Clinton and John William Peets of
Chateaugay; five sisters, Mrs. Emrick (Arlene) Harris of Spruce, Mich.,
Mrs. Eber (Yvonne) Tallman of Merrill, Mrs. David (Dorothy) Brooks
of Saranac and Mrs. William (Lolita) Krauss and Mrs. Germaine (Gail) Carriere,
both of Merrill; three brothers, Galen Bruso and wife, Ellen, of Hurlock,
Md., Carl Bruso and wife, Barbara of Sterling, Mass. and Dennis Bruso
and wife, Wilda of Clinton. A son, David Peets, died on July
20, 1975 at age 28. A sister, Zaida Rivers and a brother, Ivan
Bruso, also died earlier. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. today at Chateaugay Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted
by the Rev. Gene Thomas on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Seventh Day Adventist Church
at The Forge in Brainardsville, followed by entombment in Whispering Maples in
Ellenburg Depot. Memorial donations may be made to Chateaugay Volunteer
Fire and Rescue or to the Red Cross.
