Obituary:  The Courier (Houma, LA), Wednesday, 10 February 1943:  Last rites will be held at 10 a.m. today at the St. Francis de Sales church here for Herbert Pitre, 66 years old, a native of this parish, who died in New Orleans, Tuesday at 7:35 a.m.  He leaves his widow, the former Miss Mary Babin; three sons, Gilton, Willis and Sylvestre; and five daughters, Mrs. Odressie Pitre, Bessie, Lizzie, Agnes and Helen.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are by the Chauvin Funeral Home.

Pitre of Houma; two stepsons, Kenneth Allemand of Raceland and Michael Allemand of Lockport; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) LeBouef of Houma, and Mrs. Clifford (Judy) Bonvillian of Lockport; one brother, Louis Pitre of Houma; three sisters, Mrs. Amos (Bessie) Melancon, Mrs. Justilien (Agnes) Pitre, both of Houma, and Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Baus of Trenton, N.J.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.    He was preceded in death by his first wife Lena Authement; his parents Herbert and Mary Babin Pitre; one son Alton J. Baus, 78, died Saturday at home.  Born in Louisiana, she was a longtime Trenton area resident.  Wife of the late John Baus Sr., mother-in-law of the late John Burgess Jr., and grandmother of the late Joseph Burgess, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Elaine Baus of Ewing; a daughter and son-in-law, Rose and Edward Farese of Greensburg, Ky.; seven grandchildren, John III, Joseph, Alanna, Kristina, David, Jackie and Michael; five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Sofia, Kirsten, Brian and Samantha; and nieces and nephews.  Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartmann Funeral Home, Mercerville, with Pastor James Coston, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Trenton.  Calling hours will be 8:30 a.m. until service Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Helen Josephine Pitre:  The Courier (Houma, LA), Tuesday, 7 July 1987:  (photo)  Helen Pitre Klingman, 62, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, died at 3:30 a.m. today.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma.  A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  She is survived by seven sons, Allen, Michael, Ronnie, Sidney Jr., Johnnie, Joseph, and Russel Klingman; a daughter, Ramona Babin; a brother, Willis Pitre; two sisters, Agnes Pitre and Betsy Melancon; and five grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Klingman, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Pitre.  Falgout Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
