He was a resident of this city 50 years and operated a gasoline station on South street for many years. He was a founder and active member of St. Francis Parish. He was a member of the Artisans Society. He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Hopkins with whom he made his home, Mrs. Chevalier Pitre of St. Philomene, P.Q., and Mrs. Arthur Landry of this city; two sons, Herve O. and Omer J. Pitre, both of this city; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held from Aubuchon Funeral Home with a solemn high mass in St. Francis Church Thursday morning at 9. Misc.: Fitchburg Sentinel (MA), Wednesday, 16 December 1931: Mrs. Alphonse Pitre, 304 Wnoosnoc road, was pleasantly surprised last evening when a number of relatives and friends called at her home to assist her in celebrating her birthday anniversary. Gifts of gold and flowers were presented in behalf of the guests, by her grandson and granddaughter, Len and Lorraine Pitre. Games were played and refreshments served.

1934: Mrs. Parmelie (Dupre), wife of Alphonse Pitre, 304
Wanoosnoc road, died Sunday night in Clinton hospital from injuries she
sustained in an automobile accident in which five other persons were hurt Friday
midnight at the “four corners” intersection in Clinton near the Lancaster line.
She was riding in an automobile driven by her son, Armand when a West
Andover car collided with it. Mrs. Pitre was born in St. Simon, Canada, 62
years ago and made her home in this city for 60 years. Besides her husband
she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Hopkins of this city,
Mrs. Arthur Landry of Gardner and Mrs. Belma Pitre of Canada, and
four sons, Alfred, Herve, Armand
and Omer, all of this city; two brothers Louis and M----l Dupre both
of Haverhill; nine grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday morning at
9 o’clock in St. Francis church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery.

Pitre, 47, of 304 Wanoosnoc road, who dropped dead yesterday afternoon while repairing a tire in the Motor Mart Garage on Putnam street, will be held from the home of his father, 304 Wanoosnoc road, Monday morning with a high requiem mass celebrated at St. Francis Church at a time to be announced. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery under the direction of John B. Aubuchon Co. Mr. Pitre had mounted a tire on a car and stood up to speak to Inar Sunvall when he collapsed. Dr. Cornelius E. Geary, district medical examiner, was called and said death was due to heart trouble. Mr. Pitre was born in Hudson but lived in this city most of his life. He was a chauffeur by occupation. He is survived by his father, Alphonse Pitre of this city, three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Hopkins of Fitchburg, Mrs. Chevalier Pitre of St. Philomene, P.Q., and Mrs. Arthur Landry of Ashburnham, and three brothers, Alfred, Herve and Omer Pitre, all of this city.

He was the husband of the late Anita (Coulombe) Pitre who died in 1962. He was born in Fitchburg, June 4, 1899, a son of the late Alphonse and Parmelie (Dupre) Pitre, and was a lifelong resident. He was employed as a chauffeur for the Chaffin family here and later as a shipping supervisor at Standard Tool Co. for 25 years. He is survived by a daughter, Lorraine, wife of Daniel Farnsworth of Biddeford Pool, Maine; a brother Herve Pitre of Fitchburg; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur J. Landry of Fitchburg and Mrs. Chevalier Pitre of Montreal, Canada; and four grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Fisher, and Diane, Mark, and Tracey Eyles, all of Biddeford. Mrs. Farnsworth is director of nurses at Good Shepherd Villa. The funeral will be held Monday from Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Church.
