Notes for Etienne Boudrot:
- Etienne Boudrot was born about 1742 in Acadia. The next 20 years were extremely unsettled and I assume Etienne's parents and most of his siblings died during that upheaval. On 23 May 1763 Etienne, his brothers Marin and Charles, disembarked at St. Malo after sailing from England on La Dorothee. The 3 brothers settled in the parish of Pleudihen where Etienne married the following spring and Marin in May of 1765. Charles had moved on to Nantes where he died in 1767. On 7 December 1775 Etienne, Marguerite and their 5 small children (3 sons, 2 daughters) were in the Third Convoy which left Chatellerault for Nantes. Son David died the following spring. Over the next 10 years they had 5 more children, losing 2 fairly young. On 20 August 1785, L'Amitie left France for LA and both Etienne's and Marin's families were on board. They arrived on 8th November and the passenger lists includes the two families: Etienne Boudrot house carpenter 42, Marguerite Thibodeaux 40, Joseph carpenter 19, Cecille 17, Blaise 16, Anne 14, Etienne 5, Marguerite 3, and Yves nursling; and Marin Boudrot shoemaker 53, Pelagie Barrillot 39, Etienne 13, and Marie nursling. Etienne settled his family along Bayou Lafourche. (Marin settled 3 plots away, but unfortunately he died the following winter.) Etienne's oldest son Joseph settled upstream where he had a one-horse mill for grinding corn; son Blaise settled next to Marin's son; daughters Anne and Marie a short distance downstream as well; and oldest daughter Cecile settled on the adjacent plot with her husband. They raised their children and farmed their 7 arpent plot. Etienne died in 1825 at about 83 years of age, Marguerite in 1831 at about age 87.
