Notes for Christian Jacob:

- Christian Jacob was born c1707 in Alsace.  His father was a journeyman tailor in the town of Kirrwiller.  Christian married a local girl, Maria Margaretha Mehl, in Kirrwiller in the fall of 1732.  Over the next 17 years they had 10 children.  By the 1750's the so-called opportunities in the new lands in North America must have looked quite tempting, as Christian relocated his family to LA.  On 8 September 1753 Christian Jacob, his wife Marguerite Mehl, children Hans 19, Margaretha 18, Sophia 17, Christian 15, Anna 11, and Maria 4 arrived in Louisiana aboard Le Cameleon with a group of Alsatian immigrants.
