Wife Anne Marguerite Schaaf was born Abt. 1706 in France, and died in December 1778 at Edgard, St. John, LA.  Burial was 10 December 1778 at St. John Baptist, Edgard, LA.  They were married Abt. 1722 in Louisiana.

- 6 August 1774: Nicholas, acting for his mother, sells a slave named Joseph (27 months) to Joseph, a free Negro, who believes the boy is his son.  Therefore, Joseph grants freedom to the boy.

- 1784 census: Second German Coast: widow Perine Le Roux with 5 (sic 3) sons and 5 daughters.

- Nicholas claimed land by possession before 1776 during the LA purchase of 1803 described as "west side of the Miss. - 14 November 1720: On the ship Les Deux Freres at Lorient, France: Ambroize Aidle, Mathieu, his son, Barbe, his daughter, and Catherine, his other daughter (actually his siblings).  Somehow his mother became separated and embarked for Louisiana on La Charente.

- 12 November 1724 Census: Ambroise Hesdel, 22, native of Neukirchen, Electorate of Mayence.  Roman Catholic.  Baker.  Wife, his brother 18, and his lame brother-in-law 13; pig, 1 & 1/2 arpents = 16 verges in Germany = perches of France, on which terrain he is since a year.  He harvested about 15 barrels of rice.  He is well enough at his ease. A good worker. (living in Hoffen, 10 leagues above N.O.)

- 1 January 1726 census German village: Ambroise Kia, wife, child, brother, and brother-in-law.

- 1727 German Coast census: Ambroize Aidet, wife, child, 2 engages

- 1731 census Ance aux Outardes (east bank): Ambroise Heild, wife, 2 children, 1 engage.

- List of Landowners after 1731:  5 arpents bought, 10 by  possession, east bank Miss. R. ascending. 

- 25 June 1766 census: Ambroise Edel, his wife, 1 son of over 15 years, 9 slave men, 5 slave women, 3 slave boys, 3 slave girls, 1 horse, 2 oxen, 5 cows, 5 young bulls and calves, 18 sheep, 10 pigs, 2 muskets, and 12 arpents of occupied land.

- 31 May 1774: Widow and her 8 children sold 11 arpent farm for 700 piastres (bounded by farms of Nicolas & Jean Jacques) to Louis Girard Pellerin

- 6 May 1776: Widow together with 4 of her sons sold 11 arpent farm for 650 piastres (bounded by Nicholas & Jean Jacques). 

- 21 March 1780: Widow bought a slave (Louise 28, and her children Alexandre 2 and Rafael 6 months) for 500 piastres.
