Magnon / Dec. 10, 1872 / June 21, 1961. Daily Herald (Biloxi, MS), Friday, 14 Mar 1958: Mrs. Katherine Hubbell Magnon, 86, died at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport this morning. She resided at 816 Regnault Ave., Gulfport, for 18 years. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, Mrs. Magnon was born in New Orleans on Sept. 24, 1871. She is survived by her husband, William A. Magnon, Gulfport; two sons, Edwin Magnon, Monroe, La.; William A. Magnon Jr., Vicksburg; three daughters, Mrs. Earl B. Lentz, Bakersfield, Calif.; Mrs. Lois Tompkins and Mrs. Gladys Todd, Gulfport; one brother, A.L. Powell, Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Grace Corey, Bremerton, Wash.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The body is at Riemann's Funeral Home, Gulfport. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Daily Herald (Biloxi, MS), Wednesday, 21 June 1961: William Alexander Magnon, 88, died this morning at 7:40 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gladys M. Todd, 816 Reginault Ave., Gulfport. Formerly of Vicksburg, Mr. Magnon had resided in Gulfport for about 20 years. He was born in New Orleans Dec. 10, 1872. He was a retired baker and was a member of St. Peter's-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church and Woodmen of the World. He was a life member of the W.H. Stevens Masonic Lodge No. 121, F&AM, Vicksburg. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Gladys M. Todd and Mrs. Lois M. Tompkins, both of Gulfport, and Mrs. Althea M. Lentz, Bakersfield, Calif.; two sons, Edwin Magnon, Monroe, La., and W.A. Magnon Jr., Vicksburg; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Carrie M. Morrison, Jackson. The funeral service will be held at the Riemann Funeral Home Chapel in Gulfport at 4 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Frank W. Robert, rector of St. Peter's-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery.

Obituary: Wednesday, Aug. 2, 1972: Albert L. Powell, 91, of Route 1, Maceo, died at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday at the Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. Born in Vicksburg, Miss., he was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tenn., and the Railway Clerks Union. For 53 years, he was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad in Memphis and Vicksburg. Survivors include a son, Albert L. Powell Jr. of Maceo; a daughter, Mrs. Hugh Rice of Memphis; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Grace Corey of San Diego, Cal. The body is at the Haley-McGinnis and Owensboro Funeral Home and will be moved to the Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, Tenn.
