- Syracuse Herald, 15 September 1931:  Man, 89, is given his first birthday party at Massena:  Massena, Sept. 15: Frank LaShomb, who as near as he can figure, is 89 years old today, is having the first birthday party of his life at his home on Maple Ridge, near Massena Center, about 10 miles from Massena.  Many relatives and friends gathered at the home today to aid in the celebration of the event.  The only way he can reckon his age is that his parents stated that when the war broke out in 1861 he was 19 years old and that he was born in mid-September.  That would make him 89 years old.  He was born near his present home and is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter LaShomb.

- Massena Observer, Thursday 17 September 1931:  Frank LaShomb is Honored at Party - Reunion is held on Home Farm on Maple Ridge near Brasher Center on Tuesday - Members of the LaShomb family gathered at the old home farm on Maple Ridge, near Brasher Center, Tuesday in honor of Frank LaShomb, the oldest member of the family, who celebrates his birthday this month.  Mr. LaShomb does not know the exact date of his birth but believes it was in the middle of September about 89 years ago.  Mr. LaShomb was born on a farm not far from his present home.  He is a son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Peter LaShomb, who came to this section from Canada.  He grew to manhood and married Miss Emma Currier and she died two years ago.  He has one brother, Lewis LaShomb, of Massena, and one sister, Mrs. Kate Raymo, of Maple Ridge.  He also has three sons, William, of Massena; Henry, of Helena; Allen, on the home farm; two daughters, Mrs. Nelson Berry, of Raymondville, and Mrs. Henry Mayville, of Helena.

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 29 August 1935:  Brasher Center: Several from here attended the funeral of Frank LaShombe, aged 96 years, last Monday at the Roman Catholic Church, Brasher Falls.  Mr. LaShomb was a life long resident of Brasher and the last surviving member of a large family.  He leaves three sons, William, of Massena, Henry, of Madrid, and Allen with whom he lives; two daughters, Mrs. Nelson Berry, of Chase Mills, and Florence, of Brasher.  We extend sympathy to the family.
