Obituary:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Tuesday, 28 July 1931:  William Pete, aged 76 years, died at his home on the Kelley road in LaSalle township at 8 p.m. Monday.  Mr. Pete, who was a farmer, had lived in LaSalle township all his life.  He is survived by the widow, one son, Ezra Pete of LaSalle, four daughters, Mrs. John Trombley, Mrs. Richard Grodi, both of LaSalle, Mrs. Joseph Kanwick of Erie and Miss Frances Pete at home, and two brothers, Victor and Peter of Erie.  Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Obituary:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Thursday, 13 February 1941:  Mrs. Cecilia Pete, 66 years old, died in Monroe Hospital at 9:30 this morning following a long illness with a complication of diseases.  Mrs. Pete was taken to the hospital Tuesday.  She had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Karwick of 4926 West Albain road, for the last seven years.  She was born April 12, 1874 in LaSalle township the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Lajiness.  Her husband William Pete died 10 years ago.  She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic church.  Besides Mrs. Karwick she leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Margaret Grodi of Erie and Mrs. Frances Hauser of LaSalle; a stepson, Ezra Pete of Monroe; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mary Trombley of LaSalle; a brother Roger Lajiness of LaSalle, a half-brother, Ernest Lajiness of Monroe; a sister, Mrs. Anna Pete of Erie and 20 grandchildren.  Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael's Catholic Church and burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Erie.  The body will remain in the Allore, Beam and Weber mortuary until the time of services.  Prayers will be said at 8 o'clock this evening and Friday evening.

Mary Julia Pete:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Saturday, 7 October 1972:  Lasalle - Mrs. Mary J. Trombley, 89, of 3660 Kelly Rd., LaSalle, died at 1:45 p.m. yesterday in Mercy Hospital Monroe, where she had been since Tuesday.  She had been in poor health five years.  Friends may call at the Allore Funeral Home after 7 tonight where rosary services will be 8 p.m., tomorrow.  Services will be at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Erie.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  The daughter of William and Agnes Pete, she was born Aug. 6, 1883, in LaSalle.  She was married to John Trombley, in 1903.  A life-long resident of the county, she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Erie.  Surviving are four sons, Wilfred, Harvey and Howard, all of LaSalle, and Wallace of Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Pearl) Dussia of LaSalle; 2 half-sisters, Mrs. Howard (Frances) Ravary and Mrs. Joseph (Harriett) Karwick, both of Monroe, 31 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and four step-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband in May, 1966.

Alfred Joseph Pete:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Monday, 6 January 1930:  Alfred Pete, aged 38 years, died at his home in LaSalle Sunday evening, after an illness of eight years.  He had been confined to his bed for the past 15 months.  He leaves his widow, Edna P. Pete and four children, Jeannette, Melvin, Earl and Hazel.  Funeral services will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Erie, at 9 a.m. Wednesday and burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.

 

Ezra Levi Pete:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Thursday, 8 May 1958:  Ezra L. Pete, 62, of 322 Conant Ave., died of a cerebral hemorrhage at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Monroe Hospital where he had been taken several hours earlier.  Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Earle Little funeral home with the Rev. Harvey L. Rose of E Fourth St. Church of God officiating.  Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.  He was a member of Monroe Aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the lodge will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  The son of William and Agnes Pete, he was born May 23, 1895, at LaSalle.  He married Maudie Bussel Oct. 21, 1941, at Bowling Green, Ohio.  He was a fireman in the boiler room of River Raisin Paper Co.  He is survived by a son, Ezra L. Jr. at home; a daughter, Agnes at home; two stepsons, Richard and Howard Wyreman of Monroe; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Eli Braden, Mrs. Daniel Braden, Mrs. Earl Hill and Mrs. Thomas Stanifer, all of Monroe, and Mrs. James Thompson of Barstow, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. John Trombley and Mrs. Joseph Karwick of LaSalle, Mrs. Richard Grodi of Erie and Mrs. Howard Ravary of Monroe; 7 grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Marguerite Pete:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Wednesday, 5 November 1958:  Erie - Mrs. Margaret Grodi, 60, of 9806 Grodi Rd., here was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital at Monroe at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday.  She had suffered a heart attack.  Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the Maurice Funeral Home at Erie and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church here.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.  Mrs. Grodi was born Nov. 7, 1897, at LaSalle, the daughter of William and Cecelia Laginess Pete.  She was married to Richard Grodi in 1916 in St. Joseph's Church.  Surviving are her husband; 5 sons, Richard of Lambertville, Arthur, William and Norman of Erie and Rossie of Petersburg; 4 daughters, Mrs. Gladys Holtz, Mrs. Frances Ottinger and Mrs. Theresa Ankney, all of Erie, and Mrs. Mary Stark of Tecumseh; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Trombley and Mrs. Hattie Korwick of LaSalle and Mrs. Frances Ravery of Monroe, and 24 grandchildren.

 

Harriet A. Pete:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Monday, 19 June 1978:  Mrs. Harriet A. Karwick, 73, of 6310 Greenwycke Lane, a retired cook at Custer Elementary Schools and the Monroe Senior Citizens, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor.  She had been ill for six weeks.  Friends may call after 7 tonight in the Allore Funeral Home, where scripture services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday.  Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Prentice officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Erie.  Born July 19, 1904 in LaSalle, she was the daughter of William and Cecelia (Lajiness) Pete.  She married Joseph L. Karwick Sr. May 27, 1924, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Erie.  He died March 9, 1961.  Surviving Mrs. Karwick are 2 sons, Harold of LaSalle and Joseph L. Jr. of Erie; 5 daughters, Mrs. Lowell (Margie) Bowman, Mrs. Warren (Juanita) Bowman, Mrs. Leon (Harriet) Bowman, Mrs. Ribert (Angela) Peters and Mrs. Kenneth (Joan) Verdon, all of LaSalle; a sister, Mrs. Frances Ravary of Monroe, 18 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a half-brother, half-sister and a sister.
