MISC:  Ogdensburg Journal (NY), Saturday, 24 January 1942:  Massena Workman Files Petition:  Not able to pay his debts of $1,027 Paul D. LaShomb, workman, Route 3, Massena, is in bankruptcy today with exempt assets of $100.  He filed a petition in Federal Court at Utica listing 25 creditors, including Loan Service Corp., $300; Northern Household Outfitters, $50 and Slavin & Shulkin, $43, all secured; Frontier Corp., $50; Levine's Store, $60; Leon Tyo, $40 and Hawes Lumber Co. $300, all of Massena.  The petition was filed through Attorney Giles H.. Chase, Massena.

- Ogdensburg Journal (NY) Wednesday, 27 February 1963:  Canton - Two Massena men, Paul D. Lashomb, 44, 14 Center St., and Earl Benton Beswick, 57, Box 355, Massena, were sentenced to serve one year in the County Jail by Massena Justice Edward LaVarnway, Tuesday.  Lashomb pled guilty to morals charge involving a five-year-old boy and Beswick admitted procuring liquor for a minor.  Beswick also pled not guilty to a charge of carnal abuse of a minor over 14.  This case will go to the St. Lawrence County Grand Jury.  Beswick is represented by Attorney Lawrence X. Dalton of Massena.  The two men were taken to the County Jail by Massena Village Police and were committed at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.  The two cases were not linked and did not involve the same children.

 

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 9 February 1965:  Paul David LaShomb, 46, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1965.  He was born Mar. 11, 1918 in Louisville, a son of Michael and Carrie Steinbarge LaShomb.  He attended Massena schools and had worked at Alcoa and for the town of Louisville.  He married Miss Isabelle Huto, Massena, May 22, 1939.  Surviving are his wife, three children, Richard P. LaShomb, 13 1/2 Main St., Joan K. LaShomb, 498 S. Main St., Diane Lee LaShomb, Albany; two grandchildren, Richard Michael and Lisa Daphe LaShomb, Massena.  Funeral services were held this morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church. The body was placed in Calvary Vault to await Spring burial in Louisville.

Obituary:  Ogdensburg Advance (NY), Sunday, 7 January 1996:  Chase Mills - Funeral services for Isabel LaShomb, 73, of Box 74 Thompson Ridge Road in Chase Mills, were held Saturday at the St. Lawrence Church in Louisville, with the Rev. Albert Hauser officiating.  Burial was in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.  Mrs. LaShomb died Wednesday morning (Jan. 3, 1996) at Massena Memorial Hospital.  She is survived by one son, Richard P. of Chase Mills; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Joan) Secore of Payson, Ariz. and Mrs. Frank (Diane) Donnelly of Massena; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, one brother, John Huto of Massena; four sisters, Vivian Knotts of Florida, Edna Farmer of Massena, Pearl Olmstead of Massena, and Carolyn Arel of Louisville; several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Peggy LaShomb in 1960.

Richard Paul Lashomb:  Ogdensburg Advance (NY), Sunday, 11 March 2007:  Louisville - Funeral services for Richard (Dick) P. LaShomb, 65, of 210 county Route 36, Chase Mills, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Lawrence Church, Louisville, with the Rev. Kevin McEwan presiding.  Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville.  Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.  Mr. LaShomb died Friday (March 9, 2007) at his home in Chase Mills under the care of his family and Hospice.  He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Rick (Lisa) Stickney, of Massena, and Mrs. Scott (Brenda) Clark, of Massena; three sons, Richard M. LaShomb, of Chase Mills, Joseph H. and Stephanie LaShomb, of Depyster, and Jeffery P. LaShomb, of Louisville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Gary (Joan) Secore, of Malone.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Tina Marie in infancy; and two sisters, Diane Donnelly and Peggy LaShomb.  Mr. LaShomb was born in Massena on July 10, 1941, the son of Paul and Isabel (Huto) LaShomb.  He attended local schools.  A marriage ended in divorce.  He was employed at Alcoa for 34 years, retiring in 2001 after working as pot repair- man in the Pot Room.  He was a member of the Alcoa 25-Year Club and a member of the Massena Moose Lodge 1110.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Peggy Ann Lashomb:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 26 April 1960:  Lashombe Girl Dies, Aged 17.  Peggy Ann Lashombe, 17, who has been at the Rome State School for the past seven years, died Friday night, Apr.22,1960.  She was the daughter of Paul and Isabel Huto Lashomb, Center St.  She was born in Massena Nov. 15, 1942.  Surviving are the parents; one brother, Richard 18; two sisters, John 16 and Diane 9; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lashombe, 56 Rockaway St.  The body remained at the Phillips Memorial Home.  Funeral services were held this morning at 11 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

 

Joan Kay Lashomb:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Thursday, 15 March 2018:  Joan K. Secore, 74, of Paddock Street, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at her home.  Joan was born on November 9, 1943, in Massena, daughter of Paul and Isabel Huto LaShomb.  She attended schools in Massena and was a homemaker most of her life.  A marriage to Phillip Fregoe ended in divorce.  On December 3, 1994 she married Gary Secore in Mesa, AZ.  She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Massena.  She lived most of her life in Massena and was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Surviving are husband, Gary Secore of Arizona; daughter Sandy and her husband Aaron Quencer; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, James P. Fregoe, on June 5, 2016; and siblings - Richard LaShomb, Diane Donnelly and Peggy LaShomb.  Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc., Watertown followed by a prayer service at 6 p.m.  Burial will be in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery in Massena.  Contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, Watertown, NY.

 

Diane Lee Lashomb:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Tuesday, 21 September 2004:  Brasher Falls - Diane Donnelly, 53, of 106 Hopson Road, died at 7:34 p.m. Saturday at Massena Memorial Hospital.  An autopsy is to be conducted.  Mrs. Donnelly was a homemaker.  Born Oct. 2, 1950, at Potsdam, daughter of Paul and Isabel Huto LaShomb, she graduated from Massena High School.  A marriage to Michael Crump ended in divorce.  She married Frank M. Donnelly on March 17, 1989, at Louisville.  He died Jan. 9, 2000.  She married Glenn A. Donnelly on May 6, 2000, at Gouverneur.  Surviving besides her husband are two daughters and a son-in-law, April L. Donnelly, Massena, and Joy and John Dawson, Virginia; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Paul P. and Jessica Donnelly and Scott D. Donnelly, all of Massena, Frank M. Donnelly, Helena, Michael and Tracey Crump, Winthrop, and Terry Crump, Massena; a sister and her husband, Joan and Gary Secore, Massena, and a brother, Richard LaShomb, Chase Mills.  A sister, Peggy LaShomb, died before her.  The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena, with the Rev. Douglas R. Shear officiating.  Burial will follow.  A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
