Obituary:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Monday, 13 August 1962 - At Lady of the Sea hospital, Galliano, La., on Sunday, Aug. 12, 1962, at 11:30 o'clock a.m., Luffrey Pitre, beloved husband of the late Eloise Callahan and father of Eustache, Elbe and Harold Pitre, Mrs. Leon Bourgeois, Mrs. John Hennessey, Mrs. Alfred Gelchrist; stepfather of Joseph Cantrelle; survived by 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, age 81 years; a native and a resident of Cut Off, Louisiana.  Relatives and friends of the family also members of the W.O.W. of Cut Off, Louisiana are invited to attend the funeral.  Services from the Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc., Galliano, La., on Tuesday, August 14, 1962, at 9 o'clock a.m.  Requiem Mass at St. Joseph Catholic church, Galliano, Louisiana.  Interment Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery, Cut Off, Louisiana.  Parlors will be open at 9 o'clock a.m. Monday morning.  Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc., Galliano, Louisiana, in charge.

Martha Valentine Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA):  A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off for Martha Pitre Bourgeois, 89, a native and resident of Cut Off, who died at 10 p.m. Saturday (30 January 1993).  Interment was in the church cemetery.  She was the mother of Leon Bourgeois Jr., Lillian B. Brunet, Earline B. Pitre and Doris Kiffe; sister of Elbe Pitre, Harold Pitre and Venita Gilchrist.  She is also survived by 31 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Bourgeois Sr.; parents, Lufroid and Ophelia Cantrelle Pitre; a brother, Eustache Pitre; a sister, Helena Hennessy; and a grandson, Lester Pitre Jr.  Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano was in charge of the arrangements.

Cut Off.  He was the husband of Bridget Chaisson Pitre; father of Whitney Pitre and Wilma P. Pitre; brother of Martha Bourgeois; and step-brother of Elbe and Harold Pitre and Vanita Gilcrest.  He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife by first marriage, Marie Lefort Pitre; and step-sister, Helena Gilcrest.

Bourgeois and Mrs. Venita Gilchrist.  She is preceded in death by her husband, John Hennessy.

Elbe Francis Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA):  A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Church in Cut Off for Elbe Francis Pitre, 84, a native and resident of Cut Off, who died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  He was the father of Alfred Pitre and Ella P. Squyres; brother of Venita Gilchrist.  He is also survived by six grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lufroid and Eloise Callahan Pitre; a son, Neal Pitre; a brother, Harold Pitre; a sister, Helina P. Hennessey; a half-sister, Martha P. Bourgeois; and two half-brothers, Eustache Pitre and Joe Cantrelle.  Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano was in charge of arrangements.

Venita Josephine 'Toot' Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), 19 June 2000:  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off for Venita Pitre "Toon" Gilchrist, 86, a native and resident of Cut Off, who died June 18, 2000.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time at the church.  Burial will be at the church cemetery.  She was the wife of Alfred Charles Gilchrist.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lufroid and Eloise Callahan Pitre; brothers, Harold, Elbe and Eustache Pitre and Joseph Cantrelle; and sisters, Helena Hennessy and Martha Bourgeois.  She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and taught school for 40 years.  She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Altar Society and the Retired Teachers Association.  Samart Funeral Home and Crematorium of Cut Off is in charge of the arrangements.

Harold Pitre:  The Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA), Wednesday, 20 December 1995:  Harold Francis Pitre, 80 of Denham Springs, Louisiana.  Died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1995, at his residence.  He was 80, a native of Cutoff and resident of Denham Springs.  He taught in Walker and Denham Springs, retired as supervisor of transportation and lunchrooms with Livingston Parish School Board and worked as a part-time deputy teaching adult education and drug prevention programs.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the invasions of Leyte and Okinawa.  Visiting was held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.  Visiting at the funeral home 10 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Brad Curry, the Rev. John Causey and retired Maj. Bennie Lewis.  Interment in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.  Survived by spouse, Lula Lee Pitre; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lee Pitre and Richard Saunders and Jane Joyner and Hugh Joyner; a brother, Elbe Pitre; a sister and brother-in-law, Venita and Al Gilchrist; and four grandsons, Whitney and Shelby Saunders and Jamie and Robert Joyner.  Pallbearers will be John Easterly, Johnny Rowinsky, Hugh Page Underwood, Harvey Tate, Charles Bolen and Charles Keys.  Honorary pallbearers are Claude Pearce, Randolph Williams, Joel Ott, Loyd Detlefs, Loulan Pitre and members of the Bible Study Team.  He received a master's degree in education from LSU.  He was a member of Louisiana Retired Teachers Association and the Bible Study Team.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, Denham Springs, Salvation Army of Baton Rouge or Mental Health Association of Greater Baton Rouge.
