Obituary: Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 15 December 1927: Mrs. Louis Kirkey, for many years a resident of Norfolk and Massena, died Friday morning at 11:40 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Durant, in Bombay. She was 69 years of age. Death was due to a complication of disease, she having been in failing health for three months. She was formerly Miss Mary Angeline Trippany and was born in St. Anicet, P.Q., April 18, 1858, daughter of Frank and Angeline Kenville Trippany. When she was a small girl she moved to Norfolk with her parents. At the age of 21 years she became the wife of Louis Peets. All of their married life, with the exception of a short time in Iowa, was spent in Norfolk. Mr. Peets died 34 years ago. Thirty-three years ago her marriage to Louis Kirkey took place, and all their married life was spent in Massena. Mr. Kirkey died in 1912 and since then she had made her home with her children. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ernest Peets, of Bombay, Mrs. Samuel Tyo, of Massena, and Mrs. Ernest Tebo, of Miami, Fla.; three sons, Frank Peets, of Racket River, Louis Peets, of Brushton, and William Peets, of Massena; one sister, Mrs. Peter Lacomb, of Massena; and two brothers, Frank Trippany, of Massena, and Raphael Trippany, of St. Regis Falls. The funeral was held Monday morning at 10:30 o’clock from Sacred Heart church, Rev. P.J. McGuiness, of Bombay, was celebrant of the mass, with Rev. T.P. Holland deacon and Rev. B.H. Staie sub-deacon. Mrs. Kirkey was a member of the church here until making her home in Bombay and also belonged to the League of the Sacred Heart. Burial was at Norfolk.

Catherine Lepitre: Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 21 June 1917: Mrs. Joseph Lacomb died at the home of her son, Peter Lacomb, in Norfolk Saturday afternoon after an illness of four weeks of kidney trouble. The funeral was held from the Sacred Heart church Monday morning at ten o’clock, Rev. P.J. McGuinness officiating. Burial in the old Catholic cemetery beside her husband and three sons. Catherine Peets was born at St. Regis, May 4, 1838, a daughter of the late Louis Peets. At the age of eighteen she was united in marriage to Joseph Lacomb whose death occurred eight years ago. After her marriage she continued to live at St. Regis until nineteen years ago when they moved to Massena and made their home on Beach street. Four weeks ago she decided to visit her son and while there she was taken ill. The deceased leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. Frank Trippany, of Massena; and Mrs. Etta Euto, of Norfolk, three sons, John, of Winthrop, Peter, of Norfolk, and George, of Brookdale, also one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Prevost, of Red Deer, Alberta and a brother, Joseph Peets, of Iowa.

Mary Ann Lashomb: Red Deer News (Alberta), Wednesday, 9 July 1924: One of the old-timers of the Sylvan Lake community went to her long rest on Sunday, when Mary Ann, beloved wife of Peter Provo, died at their home on the Sylvan Lake trail. Death was due to dropsy. The deceased was born eighty-four years ago on the St. Lawrence river, just on the border between the United States and Canada. When eighteen years old she moved to Norfolk, N.Y., where she later met and married the man who has been her faithful and loving companion for just over sixty years. Mr. and Mrs. Prevo lived for some years in Iowa and later in Nebraska, always on the farm, and seventeen years ago came to Alberta and settled on the farm twelve miles west of Red Deer on the Sylvan Lake road. Besides her sorrowing husband there are left to mourn her death three sons, W.H., who owns the adjacent farm; Joseph, at Oakdale, Nebraska; and L.H., who is in Spokane. Two daughters predeceased her. There are 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren living. The funeral took place yesterday morning from the Roman Catholic Church, Reverend Father Voisin officiating. Old friends and neighbors in the persons of Frank Dellaire, Mr. Reverand, Mr. Fauchier and Alex. Loiselle, acted as pall-bearers, and a large number of friends followed the casket to the grave.

Jean Baptiste Pitre: The Oakdale Sentinel (NE), 25 October 1918: John Peets was born in St Lawrence County, New York, December 6, 1841 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joe Prevo, south of Oakdale, Tuesday, October 22, 1918, aged 76 years, 10 months and 16 days. Mr. Peets had been in poor health for several years and a week previous to his death was stricken with apoplexy. The end was not unexpected and he passed away surrounded by his children. The deceased moved to Delaware County, Iowa when 22 years of age and a year later was married to Jane Crosier. To this union eleven children were born, two dying in infancy and one son, L. W died four years ago. The family moved to Nebraska in the spring of 1880 and located in St Clair Valley. In 1889 Mr. and Mrs. Peets moved to Oakdale and this place has since been their home. The deceased is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Peter Prevo, and the following children, Mrs. James Bliss, Mrs. Charles Duncan, George E. Peets Mrs. Joe Prevo, Mrs. O. G. Retzlaff, Mrs. George H Haines, James Peets of Oakdale, and Mrs. Gean Cohee of Lincoln. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.
Phebe Legembre: Ogdensburg Advance (NY), Thursday, 27 January 1916: Mrs. Edward LaComb died at her home at the Springs Sunday morning. at 5:30, aged 71 years. The funeral was held from the Church of the Sacred Heart, Rev Father T.P. Holland officiating, Tuesday morning at 9.30 and the remains were taken to Norfolk for burial. Mrs. LaComb is survived by her husband, one son, Joseph A. LaComb, besides two sisters, Mrs. Joseph LaComb, of Massena, Mrs. Mary A. Prevost of Red Deer, Alberta, Can., and one brother, John Peets who lives in Nebraska.
Joseph Legembre: Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 20 November 1913: Joseph Peets. The local paper of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, has the following account of the death of Joseph H. Peets, a former resident of Massena. Mr. Peets died October 6. The news of the death of Mr. Joseph H. Petts, of North Red Deer, on Monday came as a great shock to his many friends and acquaintances in city and district. He had not been in any too good health this summer, but it was only last week that he was taken down with bronchial pneumonia, and the disease progressed very rapidly to the end. Mr. Petts was always ready with a cheery word and a kindly act. He had seen many shades of life in the States, being born in New York state and living as far west as the Pacific Coast. He took up land in the Poplar Ridge district thirteen years ago, moved to North Red Deer last year. He had been a member of the L.I.D. Council of his district, and was an energetic and valuable man on road work, being chosen by North Red Deer Council last year to look after that work for them. He was 62 years of age when he died, and he leaves a widow and adopted daughter. Among other relatives is Mrs. Peter Prevo, Sylvan Lake, a sister. The funeral took place from his residence to the Baptist church on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. John Bennett, the pastor, and Rev. W.B. Tait took part in an impressive and helpful service. Mr. Bennett spoke of the kindly manner and sterling character of the deceased. Reeve Kent, Councillor Rich, and Secretary-Treasurer Welton, of the North Red Deer council, were present, with a large gathering of friends, to pay their last respects to the deceased.
Fanny Susan Lajamb: Aberdeen Weekly News (Aberdeen, SD), Thursday, 22 April 1915: Death of Huron Pioneer - Huron, April 19 - Mrs. Fannie McCullough, for fifteen years a resident of Huron, died at Burlingame, Cal., as the result of a stroke of paralysis. She was spending the winter on the coast. She had been prominent for a number of years in Rebekah circles. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Herbert Tomlison of Sioux Falls, and Mrs. A. M. Chenoweth of Wolsey. The body will be brought here for burial.

Peets, 70, a lifelong resident of Massena and area, died at 7 o'clock Sunday morning, Jan. 27, 1952, in an Ogdensburg hospital. He had been in failing health for the past two years. Mr. Peets was born Mar. 8, 1875, in Norfolk, a son of Louis and Angeline Mary Trippany Peets. He lived in Norfolk until he was about 18 years old and then moved to Massena, where he has since resided. He was a farmer by occupation and resided at Minkler's Corners. He married Miss Clara Mitchell, Louisville, on June 8, 1897, the ceremony being performed in Sacred Heart Church by Father Nolan, then pastor. Surviving are the wife; seven children, Mrs. Percy (Myrtle) Raymo, Syracuse, Floyd J. Peets, 78 E.Orvis St., Mrs. Guy (Lillian) Sutton, Glenn St., Harold A. Peets, Fort Covington, Harvey Peets, Massena, Mrs. William (Veronica) Fregoe, Massena, and Donald Peets, Massena; 38 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Peets, Massena, and two sisters, Mrs. Ernest A. Tebo and Mrs. Louise Tyo, both of Massena. Two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Beatrice) Kirkey, and Mrs. Arthur (Emily) Hammill are deceased. A brother, Louis Peets, died last October in Brushton. The body is remaining at the Phillips Memorial Home and the funeral will be held Wednesday morning. The funeral arrangements will be completed later this afternoon.

October 1951, Malone: Last rites for Louis P. Peets, 71, Brushton
merchant, who died Wednesday at the Alice Hyde Hospital were held Saturday, at
9:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Church. Rev. J.A. O'Brien, pastor officiating,
assisted by Rev. Edmund Dumas, Fort Covington. Burial was in the parish
cemetery. Mr. Peets was born in Iowa, a son of the late Louis
and Mary Peets. For 38 years before his death he operated stores in
Dickinson Center and Brushton. He was a lumberman and owned and operated
several farms in the vicinity. A justice of the peace of Brushton for 35
years, Mr. Peets also served as mayor of Brushton for several terms and was
supervisor from the town of Moira in 1944. Surviving are his wife, the
former Mae Tebo, a son, Adelbert Peets, Brushton; three daughters,
the Misses Loretta and Madeline, both of Brushton and Mrs. William
Boyle, Fort Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Tebo and Mrs. Louise Tyo,
both of Massena, and a brother, Frank Peets, also of Massena.
Frank Angus Peets: Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 25 October 1966: Frank A. Peets, 83, former superintendent of highways for the town of Massena, was declared dead at the Potsdam hospital shortly after 9:30 Sunday morning, Oct. 23, 1966. Mr. Peets was stricken at his home on the Potsdam-Hopkinton road. Friends may call at the Phillips Memorial Home. Mr. Peets is survived by his wife; a son, Lawrence Peets, Helena; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Teb (Margaret) Tebo, Rome. He was born in the town of Massena Dec. 23, 1882. He attended local schools and operated a farm as a young man, then ran a store at Racket River. For eleven years he was superintendent of town highways. His wife is the former Mrs. Agnes Borthers Raymo. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Margaret Peets: Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 9 November 1972: A commital service for Mrs. Margaret Peets Tebo, 89, widow of Ernest A. Tebo, was held this morning at 10 o’clock at St. Ann’s Cemetery, St. Regis Falls. Mrs. Tebo died in the Hillcrest Nursing Home at Ramapo on Monday, Nov. 6, 1972. The body was brought to the Phillips Memorial Home. There were no visiting hours. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Odena) Kling, West Nyack; one son, Ernest Tebo Jr., Piermont; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Tebo was born Oct. 14, 1883, in Norfolk, a daughter of Lewis and Mary Trippany Peets. She attended area schools. She and Mr. Tebo were married June 2, 1902, in Sacred Heart Church. This was the first wedding ceremony performed by Father Fitzgerald after he had been assigned to the local parish. He and Mrs. Tebo lived in Dickinson Center for a number of years after their marriage and he was a bookkeeper in his father’s lumber mill. In 1912, they moved to Racket River and operated a store there for some time. Later they operated the City Market on the east side of Main St., also a store on E. Orvis St. They retired in 1926 and spent the winters in Florida for the following 12 years. In later years they spent their entire time at their home at 100 E. Orvis St., and Mr. Tebo devoted his time to his extensive financial interests. He died Mar. 4, 1960 at the age of 78 years. A mass for Mrs. Tebo was celebrated Wednesday morning in St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet.
Louise Peets: Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday 19 April 1966: Mrs. Louise Tyo Dies at 78: Mrs. Louise Peets Tyo, 78, of E. Orvis St., died unexpectedly at 1 o'clock this morning, Apr. 19, 1966, in Massena Memorial Hospital. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at her home Monday and was taken to the hospital. Mrs. Tyo was born in the Town of Norfolk, Jan. 22, 1888, a daughter of Louis and Mary Trippany Peets. She attended Norfolk schools and in early life married Samuel Tyo. They resided on farms in this area until moving to Massena. For some years they operated the grocery store at 146 E. Orvis St., now Woodrow Smith store, and Mr. Tyo also worked at Alcoa. For many years, Mrs. Tyo, a practical nurse operated the Tyo Maternity Home at 122 E. Orvis St. this was before Masesna had hospital facilities, a large number of Massena residents today were born at the Tyo Maternity home. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Leo (Irene) French, Norwood, Mrs. Leonard (Frances) Freeman, Lynn, Mass., and Mrs. John (Connie) Krywanczyk, Massena; one son, Lawrence Tyo, Massena, a daughter, Mrs. (Alberta) Conelly, Winthrop died three years ago. Also surviving are one brother, Frank Peets, Potsdam and one sister, Mrs. Ernest (Margaret) Tebo, 100 E. Orvis, now residing in Nyack. The body is at the Phillips Memorial Home. Funeral arrangements were to be made today. Mrs. Tyo was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of St. Thomas Branch 1100, LCBA.
