Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 20 November 1913:  Joseph Peets. The local paper of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, has the following account of the death of Joseph H. Peets, a former resident of Massena.  Mr. Peets died October 6.  The news of the death of Mr. Joseph H. Petts, of North Red Deer, on Monday came as a great shock to his many friends and acquaintances in city and district.  He had not been in any too good health this summer, but it was only last week that he was taken down with bronchial pneumonia, and the disease progressed very rapidly to the end.  Mr. Petts was always ready with a cheery word and a kindly act.  He had seen many shades of life in the States, being born in New York state and living as far west as the Pacific Coast.  He took up land in the Poplar Ridge district thirteen years ago, moved to North Red Deer last year.  He had been a member of the L.I.D. Council of his district, and was an energetic and valuable man on road work, being chosen by North Red Deer Council last year to look after that work for them.  He was 62 years of age when he died, and he leaves a widow and adopted daughter.  Among other relatives is Mrs. Peter Prevo, Sylvan Lake, a sister.  The funeral took place from his residence to the Baptist church on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. John Bennett, the pastor, and Rev. W. B. Tait took part in an impressive and helpful service.  Mr. Bennett spoke of the kindly manner and sterling character of the deceased.  Reeve Kent, Councillor Rich, and Secretary-Treasurer Welton, of the North Red Deer council, were present, with a large gathering of friends, to pay their last respects to the deceased.

Notes for Alice M. Kingsley:

- Massena Observer, Thursday, 18 November 1926:  Mrs. James Richards is entertaining her sister, Mrs. Alice Peets of Massena.

- Ogdensburg Journal, Saturday, 20 August 1949:  About a mile south of Raymondville came upon a sad scene.  The day before, the long hoped for rain storm came, and there was much lightning.  One bolt struck the Richards brothers' modern barn and instantly put it on fire.  Myron Richards is 75, and Walter is 63, and when they saw their barn aflame, they rushed out to save their cattle and horses.  But they weren't young any more and couldn't move as fast as they would have liked to, yet they rescued all heads but a young blooded bull, a team of colts, a 600 pound pig (dressed) and a young cow.  When they saw them the day after the fire, on last Thursday, the ruins were still smouldering and gloom had fallen over the Richards bachelor household.  Neither of the two old brothers is married and the feminine touch was provided by their 90 year old aunt, Mrs. Alice Peets.  Aged, although not feeble, she sat by the window, looking with sad, old eyes on the undeserved, wanton destruction that angry heavens had brought upon their handiwork, yet taking it with calm and remarkable stoicism.  Myron, the older brother who, incidentally, sprouts a pair of mighty walrus moustachios, told us that once before and not so many years ago, this very barn had been struck by lightning.  And then there are folks who say that lightning never strikes twice in the same place.  Baloney!

- Massena Observer, 14 August 1950:  Mrs. Alice Peets will be 91 years on Sept. 27.  She lived at Massena Springs for many years.  She is now boarding at the home of Horace Richards in Norfolk, after having spent eight weeks in Potsdam Hospital.

Obituary:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Thursday, 28 August 1952:  Norwood, Aug. 28 - Mrs. Alice Peets, 92, widow of Joseph H. Peets, died Tuesday at the Charlebois nursing home, Potsdam, where she had been a patient for the past six weeks.  She had previously been housekeeper at the Richards home at Norfolk, and then lived at the home of Mrs. Florence McColl.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Buck funeral home, Norwood, with Rev. Ernest Droppa pastor of the Norfolk Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the Raymondville cemetery.  Surviving are an adopted daughter, Mrs. Warren (Olive) Delpit, Union, N.J., and a nephew, Walter Richard, Norfolk.  Mrs. Peets, the former Alice A. Kingsley of Massena, was born Sept. 27, 1859.  She was married June 10, 1906 to Joseph H. Peets.  The late Charles Woodley, pastor of the Massena Methodist church, performed the ceremony.
