- The Windsor Star (Windsor, ON), Wednesday, 16 October 1929: Death Claims Walkerville Son - Lewis Peters, Born There, Had Lived in Detroit Most of Life: Funeral services for Lewis M. Peters, 79 years old, who was born September 2, 1850, in what is now Walkerville, were held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock from the residence of his son, Marcelle Peters, 1550 Harding avenue, Detroit. Interment was made in Woodmere cemetery, Zion Lodge, A. F. & A. M., of which Mr. Peters was a charter member, was in charge of the services. Mr. Peters was taken to Detroit with his parents when an infant. His father, John Baptist Peters, was a fishnet maker. When a youth, Mr. Peters started a rug manufacturing plant at 2638 Mullett street, where he later conducted a rug cleaning shop. He died Saturday at the Burns Home, 57 Holbrook avenue, where he had lived for several years. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Floyd Sherman, of Plymouth; Mrs. Lewis Whitman, 3780 Bangor avenue; Mrs. Ward I. Lyons, 9670 Otsego avenue, and Mrs. Peter Petcoff, 14424 Abington Road, and four sons, David and William, both of 4015 Vinewood avenue; the Rev. J. George Peters, of Radnor, Ohio, and Marcelle Peters.

George Peters, 77, former pastor of Plain Congregational Church, died Monday afternoon at the Wood County Home after a long illness. Mr. Peters was pastor of the church from December 1935 until 1950. He was born in Detroit on Nov. 22, 1883. Previously, he was a pastor at the First Congregational Church, Radnor, O. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John Busman, Clearwater, Fla.; a son, David, Pasadena, Calif.; three brothers, David, William and Mar, all of Detroit; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Sherman, Plymouth, Mich.; Mrs. Wilhimenia Petcoff, Detroit; and Mrs. Ward Lyons, Whittier, N.C. His wife preceded him in death in 1951. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Plain Congregational Church. Rev. Welton Chamberlain, pastor, will officiate, with burial in Plain Cemetery. There will be Masonic graveside services. Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home tonight and Wednesday afternoon and evening.
