Obituary: The Courier (Houma, LA), Friday, 30 December 1955: I'd like to take this opportunity to express everyone's deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mrs. Louis Pitre, who died at the residence of her daughter Mrs. Felix Lecompte, Sr., on December 17. Mrs. Pitre was 81 years of age. She is survived by nine children, Mr. Louis Pitre Jr., Herbert Pitre Sr., Dominic Pitre all of Grand Caillou, Mrs. Felix Lecompte Sr., Mr. Anthony Lodrigue and Mrs. Adam Trahan, also of Grand Caillou, Mr. Elie Pitre of Morgan City, Mrs. Danny Chauvin of Abbeville and Mrs. Myrtile Pierron of Lafitte, 63 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pitre had been ill since June of 1955. Services were held at Holy Family church with a Requiem High Mass, and interment in Holy Family Cemetery.

Dominique Prudent Pitre: The Terrebonne Press (Houma, LA), Tuesday, 19 March 1963: Dominic Pitre, 70, died March 16, at 7 p.m. at his residence on Grand Caillou Rte. Funeral services were held March 18, at 10 a.m. from Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. The deceased was preceded in death by his wife the former Odile Bourg, and his parents, the late Louis and Angelina Carrere Pitre. He was born April 6, 1892, at Montegut. His survivors include four daughters, Mmes. Herman Lirette, Eustace Falgout, Lawrence Domangue, all of Grand Caillou, and Mrs. Lovell Foret of Little Caillou. Twenty grandchildren survive. Mr. Pitre was a fisherman by profession. Chauvin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

He was the husband of the late Ortise Thibodeaux and the father of Herbert Pitre Jr., Mrs. Magnus (Enola) Lirette, Mrs. Antoine (Pearl) Bourg, Mrs. Ivan (Mary Louise) Authement, Miss Jo Ann Pitre and the late Mrs. Lincoln (Evans) Carlos. He is survived by his brother, Louis Pitre; his sisters, (Mrs.) Felix LeCompte, Mrs. Danny Chauvin and Mrs. Adam Trahan; and 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with interment following in Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation began at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, and will continue until 11 p.m., resuming at 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, and continuing until funeral time.
