Obituary:  (photo)  Louis Joseph Pitre, 85, a native and resident of Grand Caillou, died at 7:44 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 1992.  Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, and 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Dulac, with burial in the church cemetery.  He is survived by three sons, Bennett and Louis Paul Pitre of Grand Caillou, and Kenneth Scott Pitre of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Normand (Melva) Smith and Mrs. Wilton (Bernadine) LeBoeuf, both of Chauvin; 22 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Emily Marie Scott Pitre; his parents, Louis and Angelie Carrere Pitre; one daughter, Mrs. Margie Thibodeaux; four brothers, Dominick, Elie 'Pete', and Cyrus 'Herbert' Pitre, and Anthony Lodrigue; five sisters, Feleice LeCompte, Agnes Pierron, Nerlie Chauvin, Beulah Trahan and Mae Pierron; and one granddaughter, Bethany T. McNamara.  He was a parishoner of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Obituary:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), 11 November 1982:  Emily Marie Scott Pitre, 71, a native and resident of Grand Calliou, died 6:30 a.m. Wednesday (10th).  She was a member of the Holy Family Ladies Altar Society.  Visitation is 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. today and resumes 8 a.m. Friday until funeral time at the Chauvin Funeral Home.  The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church.  Burial follows in the church cemetery.  Survivors include her husband, Louis Pitre Sr.; three sons, Bennett and Louis "Chockey" Pitre Jr. of Grand Caillou and Kenneth Scott of Algiers; three daughters, Mrs. Normand (Melvia) Smith of Chauvin, Mrs. Margie Thibodeaux of Houma and Mrs. Willard (Bernadine) Portier of Chauvin; three stepbrothers, Nolan and Julius "Boone" Scott and Herman Lirette of Houma; one sister, Mrs. Eve Chauvin of Erath; four step-sisters, Mrs. Lucritia Lirette, Mrs. Theresa Liner, Mrs. Audrey Scott and Mrs. Marie Green of Houma; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Clothilde Trosclair and Paul Scott; three brothers, Freddie, Cheradon and Johnny Scott; and a stepbrother, Andrew Scott.  Chauvin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Bennett Anthony Pitre:  Bennett Anthony Pitre, age 84, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021.  He was a native and longtime resident of Grand Caillou, La.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation Friday, February 26, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with burial to follow.  Bennett is survived by his son, Dwayne Pitre and wife Vicky; daughter, Amy Pitre Price and husband Jimmie; grandchildren, Chriscy Pitre, Jennifer Guidry and husband Jeremy, Danielle Pitre, Brittney Pitre, Ashley Price Orlando and husband James, Erica Price and husband Matthew Jackson; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Melva Smith, Bernadine LeBeouf; brothers, Louis “Chockey” Pitre, Kenneth Scott.  Bennett is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Authement Pitre; parents, Louis and Emily Pitre; sister, Margie Thibodeaux.  Bennett was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He enjoyed gardening as well as serving the fishing industry for many years.  In retirement he loved being outside by the bayou and playing cards to pass the time.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  Due to COVID 19 and the CDC rules, masks are to be worn at all times and social distancing should be practiced.
