Obituaries for the children:
Mary Catherine Pitre: The Moncton Transcript (Moncton, NB), Friday, 3 April 1964: Bathurst - A 62-year-old woman died in Hotel Dieu here Thursday from burns she received Wednesday. Mrs. Henry Bertin of Major Lane reportedly suffered a "weak spell" while in the process of lighting the kitchen range Wednesday morning to prepare breakfast. Her clothes apparently ignited when she came in contact with the stove. The first indication sleeping members of the family had of the incident was when they heard screams coming from outside the house. Mrs. Bertin had apparently run outside to extinguish her burning clothes in the snow. She was taken to Hotel Dieu where she died 18 hours later. Mrs. Bertin, the former Catherine Pitre, is survived by her husband, a retired employee of Bathurst Power and Paper Co., Ltd., who was visiting in Quebec at the time; six sons, Edmond, Benny and Clifford, all of Toronto, John of Saint John, and Edward and Wilfred, both of Bathurst, and two daughters, Mrs. Oliver Potvin (Mary), Baie St. Paul, Que., and Mrs. Arthur Daigle (Irene), Bathurst. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church, West Bathurst. The body will be placed in the receiving vault of the parish cemetery for interment later in the spring.
Joseph James Pitre: The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Tuesday, 7 July 1970: Bathurst - The death of James J. Pitre, 620 Golf Street, occurred Sunday at Chaleur General Hospital, Bathurst, after a long illness. He was 61. Born in Robertville, he was a son of the late James J. and Marie Jane (Legacy) Pitre.
