Obituary: The Houma Times (Houma, LA), Saturday, 23 December 1944: Reverend Enos John Babin, CSSR, was celebrant of the requiem mass at the St. Francis de Sales church yesterday at 9:30 a.m., for his grandfather, Jean Pitre, 92 years old, who died Tuesday at 5 a.m. Mr. Pitre was a native of Terrebonne; he is survived by his widow, the former Carmelia Darsey and six children; three sons, Wilson, Odressie and Willis and three daughters, Mrs. Henry Babin, Mrs. Adam Babin and Mrs. Paul Smith. Funeral arrangements were by Chauvin Funeral Home. Interment was in the St. Francis de Sales cemetery.

Obituary: The Terrebonne Press (Houma, LA), Tuesday, 20 April 1954: Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Pitre, the former Camila Darcey, were conducted from her late residence, 215 Pitre Lane, to Holy Rosary church at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 19, followed by interment in St. Francis de Sales cemetery, with the Chauvin Funeral home in charge. Mrs. Pitre died at her residence at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, April 18. She was 92 years of age. Survivors include two sons, Willie and Odressie Pitre of Houma; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Babin of New Orleans, Mrs. Adam Babin of Belle Chaise, and one brother, A. O. Darcey of Houma. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruffin Trahan, and a son, Gary Pitre. Before his death Mr. Pitre resided with a sister in New Orleans.

He was a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of 215 Cadiere St. The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Olivia P. Pitre and father of Mrs. Bernice Garay of New Orleans and Mrs. Erna LeBlanc of Houma. Three grandchildren are among survivors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Pitre and Camellia Darcey Pitre. The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. until funeral time tomorrow, with recitation of the rosary scheduled for 7:30 p.m. this evening. First National Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
