Obituary:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Sunday, 30 March 1952:  Rites for J. M. Pitre, 64, held in Mamou - Ville Platte, March 29 - Funeral services were held at the Mamou Catholic church, for John M. Pitre, Sr., 64, of Ville Platte.  Mr. Pitre, formerly of Welch, has been making his home in Ville Platte for many years.  He was a prominent farmer.  Father LeBlanc of the Mamou Catholic church officiated at the funeral services, and interment was in the Mamou Catholic cemetery.  He is survived by his wife, of Ville Platte; two sons, R.W. Pitre of Baton Rouge, and John M. Pitre, Jr. of Ville Platte; three daughters, Mrs. Devic Fruge of Eunice, Mrs. Gladue Dertez of Lake Charles, and Mrs. Dave Janice of Lake Charles; one brother, Leen Pitre of Forth Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Levenia Marcentel of Kinder, and Mrs. Ozenac Langley of Elton, and four grandchildren.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Monday, 17 March 1941:  Eunice, La., March 17 - Funeral services for Mrs. John Pitre, nee Mary Guillory, 42, who died at her home in Mamou Friday afternoon, were conducted at the Mamou Catholic church, Saturday at 3:30 p.m., the Rev. F. Chalsson, pastor officiating.  Interment was in the Mamou Catholic cemetery under direction of the Ardoin funeral home of Eunice.  Surviving are her husband John Pitre and three children, Quil and Floyd Ortego, and John Pitre, Jr., Father J. B. Guillory; also four brothers: Lee, Gill, Harvey and Philip Guillory.

Hazel Helen Pitre:  Lake Charles American Press (LA), 14 December 1984:  Eunice - Funeral services for Mrs. Dovic (Helen Pitre) Fruge, 77, will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 14, from Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.  Mrs. Fruge died at 1 a.m. Thursday in a Eunice nursing home.  Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Dave (Lucille) Janice and Mrs. Gladue (Neva) Dartez, both of Moss Bluff, and a half-brother, Floyd Pitre of Franklin.

 

Robert Wilmer Pitre:  Lake Charles American Press (LA), Wednesday, 26 October 1960:  Robert William Pitre, a native of Kinder, died in Pasadena, Tex., late Tuesday afternoon.  He was 49.  The body will be brought to Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, where date and time of services are to be announced.  Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a barber, had lived in Pasadena for six years.  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Cora Mae Pitre of Pasadena; two sons, R.W. Pitre Jr. of the U.S. Army in Germany and Donald Pitre of Pasadena; one daughter, Miss Romain Pitre of Pasadena; three sisters, Mrs. David Fruge of Eunice, Mrs. Gladue Dartez of Moss Bluff and Mrs. Dave Janice of Lake Charles; one brother, John M. Pitre of Ville Platte and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Marion Marcantel of Iowa.

Neva Marie Pitre:  American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Wednesday, 28 May 2014:  Neva Marie Dartez, 97, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at her residence.  She was a founding member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society.  She loved to visit with family and friends.  She is survived by her son, Duane Dartez of Moss Bluff; brothers, Larry Miller and wife Gail of Moss Bluff; John Pitre of Beaumont; one grandson, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gladue Dartez, her parents, one brother and two sisters.  Her service will be 10:00am, Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Theodore Catholic Church.  Msgr. Dubois will officiate.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm with a rosary at 6:30pm and resume Thursday from 8:00am until time of service at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.  Burial will be at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
