Obituary: The Courier (Houma, LA), Tuesday, 2 January 1973: Marigus Joseph Pitre of 835 Sandi St., died Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 1 a.m. at the age of 81. He was the spouse of Mrs. Elvire (Daisy) Pellegrin Pitre and father of Ories and Morris Pitre, both of Houma, Reynold Pitre of Chauvin and Acklund Pitre of Jackson, Mrs. Claude (Mae) Boudreaux and Mrs. Roy (Daisy) Cunningham, both of Houma, and the late Mrs. Allen Duplantis. He was the half-brother of Peter Freeman of Gonzales and brother of the late Bernard and Lawrence Pitre, Mrs. Warner Ellender of Bourg, Mrs. Alerie Williams and Mrs. Harris LeCompte, both of Houma and the late Mrs. Alex Gautreaux. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Services remain incomplete, but services will be conducted from Holy Rosary Catholic Church here, with burial rites to follow in the church cemetery. Chauvin Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Visitation began this morning at Chauvin Funeral Home and will remain until funeral time. The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Holy Rosary Church, Houma. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Oris and Morris Pitre, of Bayou Dularge; two daughters, Mrs. Claude (Mae) Boudreaux, of Lafayette and Mrs. Roy (Daisy) Cunningham, of Houma; one brother, Otson Pellegrin, of Houma; 30 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
