Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Monday 19 May 1947:  J. Lashomb’s funeral to be Wednesday:  Funeral services for Joseph LaShomb, 78, will be held at the home on Cook St. Rd. at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Mr. LaShomb had not been in good health for some time and he went outdoors, ostensibly, for a few minutes, at about midnight Saturday.  When he did not return within a reasonable length of time, his wife became alarmed.  Neighbors and grandchildren conducted a search.  His body was found hanging in a barn on the Cook St. Rd.  Dr. F.C. Mason, coroner, and troopers were summoned.  An inquest was conducted this morning after which the death certificate was signed as “strangulation by hanging."  He was born in Brasher Falls June 13, 1868, a son of John and Sophia LaShomb.  He attended schools in Brasher and then began working with section gangs on the New York Central and the Rutland Railroads.  He had lived in Massena for 58 years.  He retired about 15 years ago.  Surviving are his wife Mrs. Elizabeth McGregor LaShomb; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Flynn of Ogdensburg; three grandchildren; three brothers, Frank of Winthrop, John of Helena, Charles of Watertown; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Lavack, Springfield, Mass., and Mrs. Joseph Mousaw, Union Springs, NY.

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 3 September 1953:  Lifelong Resident Here Died Tuesday:  Mrs. Elizabeth McGregor LaShomb, 70, of the Cook St. Rd„ lifelong resident of Massena, died at her home at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1953.  She had been in failing health the last six weeks.  A native of Massena, she was born Aug. 20, 1877, the daughter of Angus and Agnes Sharlow Mcgrcgor.  She was educated in local schools.  She and Joseph LaShomb were married in June, 1895 and Mr. LaShomb was employed by the railroad.  He died in 1947.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Flynn, Ogdensburg; a sister, Mrs. Henry Brothers, Massena; two brothers, Ernest McGregor, Norfolk, and Bert McGregor, Brasher Falls, and three grandchildren.

Albert LashombMassena Observer (NY), Thursday 4 June 1936:  Albert Lashomb Hangs Himself – Commits Suicide in Jail at Potsdam – Houghton Resident arrested on wife’s complaint for being disorderly is found dead by Potsdam policeman - Albert Lashomb, 35, of Houghtown, just outside of Massena, committed suicide by hanging himself by his belt in the village lockup at Potsdam Friday night.  He was taken to the Potsdam jail by authorities from Norfolk to await arraignment on a charge of disorderly conduct on complaint of his wife.  He was found dead by the police.  Dr. S. Pope Brown, Potsdam, coroner, issued a verdict of death by suicide.  Mr. Lashomb was 35 years of age.  He was born in the town of Norfolk, a son of Joseph and Elisabeth McGregor Lashomb.  He was employed in the Massena post office building for a time and had been working on road projects in the town of Norfolk.  Last February he married Mrs. May Richards.  She survives, also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lashomb; one sister, Mrs. Richard Flynn, all of Houghtown.  The funeral was held Monday afternoon in Norfolk and burial was made in the Raymondville cemetery.
