Obituary:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), 30 November 1960:  In New Orleans, La., on Tuesday, November 29, 1960 at 1:05 o'clock a.m., Jackin Pitre, beloved husband of Henrietta Esponge, father of Andrew, Jackin, Percy and Walter Pitre and Mrs. Spergen Broussard, also survived by 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; aged 72 years, a native and resident of Galiano, La.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral which will take place from the Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc., Galiano, La. on Thursday, December 1, 1960 at 8:15 o'clock a.m.  Religious services at the St. Joseph Catholic church, Galiano, La.  Interment in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.  Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc., Galiano, La. in charge.

Obituary:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), 31 October 1968:  On Wednesday, October 30, 1968, at 1 o'clock a.m., Henrietta Esponge, wife of the late Jackin Pitre; mother of Andrew, Jackin Jr., Percy, and Walter Pitre, and Mrs. Velma Broussard; sister of Thomas Esponge, Jr., also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Age 74 years, a native of Chenier, Louisiana and a resident of Cut Off, Louisiana.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral.  Services from Falgout Funeral Home, Galiano, Louisiana, on Saturday, November 2, 1968 at 9:30 o'clock a.m.  Religious services at St. Joseph Catholic church, Galiano, Louisiana, 10 o'clock a.m.  Interment St. Joseph cemetery.

Jackin E. Henry Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), February 1999:  A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Golden Meadow United Methodist Church in Golden Meadow for Jackin E. Pitre Jr., 83, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, who died at 8:40 a.m. Feb. 9, 1999.  Visitation will be 5 to 10 p.m. today and 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off.  Burial will be at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.  He was the husband of Mercedes Rousse Pitre; father of Neal Pitre; and brother of Velma Broussard.  He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackin Sr. and Henrietta Esponge Pitre; and brothers, Andrew, Walter and Percy Pitre.  He was a master mason and member of Etoile Polaire No. 1 F. ampersand and a member of Lafourche Lodge No. 427.  Samart Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Joseph Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), May 1987:  Funeral services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today at Maria Immaculata Catholic Church in Houma for Walter Joseph "Papa" Pitre, 68, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Houma, who died Sunday (17th) morning.  Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery No. 2.  He was the husband of Irene Matherne Pitre; father of Mrs. Sally Crochet and Mrs. Veronica Meeks; foster-father of Morris Pitre, Carmen and Gina Pullman; and brother of Mrs. Velma Broussard and Jackin Pitre Jr.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackin Joseph and Henrietta Esponge Pitre; and brothers, Andrew and Percy Pitre.

 

Velma Jane Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), 2 January 2008:  Velma Pitre Broussard, age 80, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Galliano, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, surrounded by family.  Visitation Thursday and to funeral time Friday at Christian Fellowship Church in Larose; funeral service Friday at the church, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery.  Survived by four sons, Spergan Broussard Jr. of Galliano, Ron Broussard and fianceé, Sandy Cantu, of Galliano, Rod Broussard of New Orleans and Ralph Silva Broussard and wife, Connie, of Sebastopol, Calif.; one daughter, Cindy Melancon and husband, Rick, formerly of Houma, now living in Katy, Texas; two stepchildren, Melinda Ballew and husband, Jack, of Dayton, Tenn., and Joey Broussard and wife, Sheila, of Pooler, Ga.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband, Spergan Broussard Sr.; her parents, Jackin and Henriette Esponge Pitre; one infant son, Ray; and four brothers, Walter, Andrew, Jack and Percy F. Pitre.  Member of Christian Fellowship Church in Larose.  Samart-Mothe Funeral Home.
