Obituary:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Saturday, 15 June 1963:  Noelville - Requiem High Mass was offered at St. David Roman Catholic Church for Joseph Pitre who died at St. Joseph hospital Sudbury, following a short illness.  He was 89 years of age.  The body rested at the Funeral Co-operative Home in Sudbury and was afterward transported to rest at St. David parish hall in Noelville.  Rev. Gerard Vachon officiated at the funeral service, while Mrs. Denis Monette playing the organ accompanied the men's Choir as they sang the funeral rites.  Oscar Mayer was soloist.  The deceased man was a member of the League of Sacred Heart and the Third Order of St. Frances, and he was escorted in church by members of both Congregation with the banners.  The altar boys assisting the priest through the Ceremony were all grandsons of the deceased Jean Marie, Gilles, Gaston Maurice, Raymond, and Michel Pitre; Denis and Reynald Chartrand.  The pallbearers, also grandsons, were: Reginald, Ernest, Gerald Pitre, Romeo Sauve, Herae, and Ernest Meilleur.  Interment took place in the family plot in the Holy Angels Cemetery where Father Vachon recited the graveside prayers.  The deceased man was born in 1874.  In 1896 he married the late Amanda Carriere, who predeceased him two weeks ago.  The Pitre family came to Noelville in 1917 and settled on a farm.  Later, the couple retired to live in the village and two years ago they went to live at the Sudbury Pioneers Manor.  The deceased was a devoted member of St. David Church and also a member of the Way of the Cross Association.  Surviving are 11 children, six sons, Albert, of Detroit, Leon, Hector, Oscar and Romeo, of Noelville; and Alfred of Sturgeon Falls.  Five daughters: (Annie) Mrs. Philias Paquette, of Azilda; (Germaine) Mrs. Alfred Potvin, and (Leonie) Mrs. Joseph Chartrand, of Noelville; (Dora) Mrs. Albeni Meilleur, of Azilda; and (Gracia) Mrs. Maxime Bouchard, of Minnow Lake.  Also surviving are 67 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Dollard, of Timmins; Domine, of Sudbury; and Napoleon, of Hailbury; two sisters: Mrs. Josephine Nadon and Mrs. Alma Clement, both at Noelville.

Obituary:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Thursday, 30 May 1963:  Noelville - Rev. Gerard Vachon officiated at Requiem High Mass in St. David Roman Catholic Church for Mrs. Joseph Pitre who died at Pioneer Manor in Sudbury at the age of 84.  Members of the congregation of the Ladies of Ste. Anne and the Third Order of St. Francis formed a guard of honor at the funeral.  Interment was at Holy Angels Cemetery in Noelville.  Pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased woman: Elger, Riger, Constant Pitre; Robert Bastien; Roland Sauve; and Lucien Meilleur.  The former Amanda Carriere, Mrs. Pitre was born at Embrun.  She was married to Joseph Pitre in 1896.  The couple lived in Noelville since 1917.  Surviving beside her husband are 11 children, six sons: Albert, of Detroit; Leon, Hector, Oscar and Romeo, of Noelville; and Alfred of Sturgeon Falls; and five daughters: (Annie) Mrs. Philias Paquette, of Azilda; (Germaine) Mrs. Alfred Patoin, and (Leonie) Mrs. Joseph Chartrand, of Noelville; (Dora) Mrs. Albine Meilleur, of Azilda; and (Gracia) Mrs. Maxime Bouchard of Minnow Lake.  Also surviving are 67 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Emile Beaudoin and Mrs. Olida Tessier, both of Embrun; and Mrs. Clorine Tessier, of Ottawa.

Joseph Leon Aldine Pitre:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Thursday, 22 March 2001:  Pitre, Leon - The family announces with sorrow, the death of Leon Pitre, on Monday, March 19, 2001, in Sudbury, at the age of 103.  Son of the late Joseph Pitre and the late Amanda Pitre (nee Carriere).  Husband of the late Liona Pitre (nee Seguin).  Of course loving father of Jeannine Marki (husband Peter) of Sudbury and Doctor Roger Pitre (wife Yolande) of North Bay.  Predeceased by his daughter Jacqueline Daoust (husband Donuld) predeceased.  Dear brother of Romeo (wife Jeannette), Germaine Potvin (nee Pitre) and Leonie Chartrand (husband Joseph) all of Noelville.  Predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Albert, Dora Meilleur, Hector, Oscar, Alfred, Gracia Bouchard, Annie Paquette.  Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.  It is to be noted that Mr. Leon Pitre lived through three centuries, being born in 1898, lived through 1900 and died in 2001.  Family received friends at St. David Parrish Hall, Noelville, Wednesday.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Thursday, March 22, 2001 at 11 a.m. in St. David Church, Noelville.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart Foundation will be appreciated.
